this is mainly pointed out at Cataclysm Beta players (lucky bastards.)

I on my main, am a rogue, and I got engineering and herbalism.

Im thinking of rerolling mining instead of herbalism though, to get mats for my engineering, but in the end, im wondering what will earn the most? - the problem is I wont lvl my herb/mine farmer until I am well situated at lvl 85.

Gimme your opinion :p

Well i don't think engineering has ever made loads of gold but i know for a fact that mining/herbing is going to be HUGE money makers at 85 because people are going to be wanting craftables/flasks/potions/glyphs etc so if you can quickly level the two proffs. you should be set. And yes i played in the Beta.

herbalism is used to create more raiding consumables than mining, so herbing will always be able to make more IMO

Not necessarily, mining is really useful for a bunch of proffesions, if you just sell the raw ore, you'll make bank because JC's buy ore to prospect, engineers/blacksmiths need to craft stuff. You can sell bars, and prolly stuff = titansteel bars (which was huge money maker at beginning of Wotlk)

So both professions together = win since GB can gather both at the same time.

Well I will keep Engineering, but havent yet decided which one to take at starts - which one will blow in the most gold?

Even though I also had Beta, I seriously doubt this cant be answered by anyone with a common sense.

As world of warcraft has shown the last few years, both herbalism and mining make a lot of money. I can't really say which one does more, because in the times where flasks where so needed I made 4/5k a day easily as opposed to mining which is and has always been a good source of money.

So if you're doing it for the gold, I'd say I don't think there is a big difference unless one has huge competition on your server, so for example 25 bots farming herbs and just 2 farming mines:P

just my 2 cents though:)

When Inscription went live those who had stockpiles of herbs were instantly rich. I remember peacebloom selling for over 100g a stack on my realm.
