Now that the 3.0 closed beta test has been running a week, I wanted to give users an update on our progress so far.
Right now, things are looking great. There were a ton of client changes, but they were in-line with what is expected of a new expansion. The bulk of the API updates are completed now, with only a few minor things left to test and update. While we expect many more client updates and changes over the next few weeks, we feel we're in a great position right now moving forward.
As a result, we're transitioning into the logic/design update phase. In this phase we'll start updating bots, plugins, and routines for the new version of the game. A lot of legacy content will be getting replaced, as the new game obsoletes a lot of the ideas for the game version that content was written for. There are details available yet on the new direction we'll be going with the combat routine and grind bot, but we'll be working on it.
One thing is for certain though, the new content requires is to modernize a lot of our logic and just have better things by default. A lot of the new boss fights center around avoidance and real fight logic, which none of our current offerings attempt to handle. Anyone who has had a chance to play through the new content should see exactly what I'm talking about. For those that haven't, you should, it's great!
In any case, exciting and challenging times await us again. There are no plans for a user alpha test before Act 8 is released (hopefully in less than a week) as we're still working through getting things stable and usable to avoid wasted time when users start working with the new EB version.
