Empowered rift not working?

When I check empowered rift I dont think its actually doing it. At the start when the gem is very low it does it. Later on it does not. My settings are greater rift lvl 72, empower rift up to lvl 80 and I have run nephelam rift if no keys found checked. I want it to always run empower rift no matter what.

I do empowered grifts manually myself.
I've never been able to get this to work.

One issue is how do you pick the gems you want empowered?
Is it one gem or two or three?

I do many things manually with the bot running to make sure it gets the job done.
No bot in any game works perfectly. That is life man.

Thank god the WD can be manipulated while bot running to get them doing the right thing.
Try that with a Monk or DH and you quickly give up manual override. lol i'ts impossible!

There's a list for which gems to upgrade first, by default it priorities equipped gems, it will upgrade any gem (from lowest gem to highest) I think by default but you can change this somewhere in "QuestTools" config, there's also a page in Trinity config where you can arrange gems I think, but you need questtools enabled. Empowered or not, it will upgrade any gem.

edit: decided to put some screenshots

never had any problems with these settings, pretty sure the trinity gem priority overrides the questtools tho, except from the option "lowest first" and "highest first"
