I like numbers.

Anyone ever sit down and figure their electricity cost per unit gold?

Mine is $0.21/hour

or about $14.70 per wow token at 600g/hr, 42k token.

The energy use is 35KWh/Token @ $0.42/KWh.

dayum that's crap - good thing I get 4 times as much gold per hour and 5 times that amount per pc xD
and electricity is abit cheaper in my country :D

Good idea to check the realistic profit out of the botting.

Indeed, different countries across the globe have different rates for power, so botting in Russia (for example) is not the same as UK. On the other side, in UK you have much more opportunities for cash income, than botting, haven't you?

Btw, the next question in order should be - which hardware would bring me more botting power for lower power consumption?

While botting with a veteran like Core i7-920 is still quite productive, it it much power-hungry than the newest 6-th generation of Core i7 CPU line. I have not counted the difference so far (due to the low power cost in my country too) but others could draw the line.

I have no idea how to calculate this, haha. Not sure where I'd find that sort of information regarding my power usage/cost.

you can check with your supplier how much is 1 kwh. lets say it is 0.14c/kwh. If you have a computer with 600w, that means that it will cost you about
0.084c/h or $2.016/day or 60.48/month if you run the computer 24/7. In most cases your 600w computer won't draw 600w so that's the upper limit of this calculation.

I run 10 bots 8-16 hours a day on 1 PC little over 1.2 million gold a week

i do not pay for electricity do to solar panels . i would make money back every year but laws in my state wont let them pay me.

That actually is pretty terrible profit wise. 25% profit margin is really bad. Data is fun though isn't it?
More bot sessions running solves that. The raise in electricity usage wont keep up with the gold gain if you run enough sessions. It also depends on your hardware.

that's great, but investing in solar panels is still far from ideal - it's getting better and better though

I get an average of 1200g/hr, so for a 42k token that'd be 35 hours required.

I normally bot using Intel Atom processors which require considerably less power.
Power usage is 15 Wh, that'd be .015 * 35, so .54 kWh.
My cost is $.11/kWh, so roughly 6 cents for a token.

For my desktop, it would be $4.75 per token.
Although that's not accurate as that's overclocked and running at max which wouldn't happen if it was only a single account running on it.
