Down time question

All I have ever played is Ally toons. I have 3 accounts with 8 level 80's, every profession to the max. Every toon has max riding, fishing, cooking, bla bla bla. Anyway i got the idea in my head to level a Horde druid as I have yet to play the horde and of all my lvl 80 toons I have all classes but a druid.
My question is about blizzard’s rules for transferring gold.

Can I ask an Ally player to trade Ally gold for Horde gold (assuming he has a horde toon that has gold on the same server) with me and not break any rules?



The reason I am asking is because I want to have gold to buy bags and train and get mounts and buy gear to making leveling as fast as possible. It sucks starting out with no gold.

I'd consider botting a druid for 80 levels more of a TOS issue than transferring gold in my opinion.

I'm not sure how that would work. As long as the amount is not excessive (less than 5k), you should be safe. Use guild banks to transfer the gold if possible.

If it's on the same server, you can always use the neutral AH to transfer gold. Although there is a 20% fee.

Well if you read it, if your not exploiting any economy (usually meaning your paying real world money or getting/paying real world items) to obtain the gold then you should be fine. I have a group of friends that I've traded gold like that before with and never had an issue. Just make sure whoever you trade it with is trust worthy.

Couple ideas/suggetions:

1) Since you have lvl 80's already, just start a Horde DK on the realm you want, level him up and you'll have gold to spare in no time.

2) Utilize the neutral AH's. Its a bit tricky but is well worth it if you play your cards right. (use the DK to get to one on the horde side since getting there at sub levels will be a time consuming process)

3) Just start a fresh lvl 1, get mining/herb gathering as soon as possible and let the bot do the work. Setup a bank toon to mail the herbs and ores to and once a day sell in AH. I usually end up with around 300 to 350g on the average before lvl 20 from selling off the herbs and ore in the AH. I did get a report about this in the past and when I was msg'd by a GM luckly I was at the comp, I told him i grind and do the AH like that because its the easiest way to get gold for my toons at the low levels. He informed me I was acting "bottish" and I jokingly asked him if he ever heard of a bot that could talk like this in game before. He apologized and that was all 'she wrote'. Currently have over 100k gold and 5 80's (all botted) on that account and never had an issue with any GM's since.

or the easiest way..
4) Pay the transfer free, and load one up of your 80's with gold and mats and change to the dark side.

Just remember though no matter what, what works for some people might not work for others.

And also one last time, remember you are able to mail BoA items between horde and ally toons on the same server (or if you move toons to different servers any BoA that the toon is in posession of will transfer with it also without issue).

I think will just find someone trustworthy to trade gold with. I only need a few hundred gold to get started anyway. And thanks for reminding me about the BoA gear, I allways forget about that stuff.

No prob.. glad to help. I am hoping they do the mailing gear between toons on different realms eventually. That was their original goal when they started mailing BoA betwen horde and ally toons on same realm but due to limitations and probably issues with RealID they put it off til a later date they said.

If you have plenty of gold as you should using these fine tools. Then you won't mind the fee using the cross faction AH. Post a overpriced item (I used leather scraps) and then buy it with alliance character. You can not however do it yourself. I tried and it said "You can not buy AH items from yourself". I just gave the gold to my friend and he bought the item and my little orc warlock was suddenly rich.

Normally what I would do is level an alliance toon or horde as it were to like level 10 or whatever level i needed to do a faction transfer with that amount of gold. It's 25.00 and you can load up your bags and bank from your main toons before transferring.
