I have been surfing the forums and people are saying that blizz dosen't watch the online time, others say you can get auto-banned for staying on more than 24hrs. Has anyone actually been banned for being online for too long? I am questing 1-85 about 16hrs a day and this is the 6th day not banned yet. any info would be great

Update: Also would switching between 2 different toons every 6 hours restart your account online time?

I got a 72hrs susp for staying 18hrs + - leveling my dk!

All you will get is anecdotal evidence from here, no one really knows for sure although I'm inclined to think that Blizzard have a flag for long continuous hours online.

If you're online 24/7 I'm sure they'll notice.

I got 2 days, 10h on my level 84 that I'm currently botting on (rep botting).
Made that char 3 days ago. So I've been offline for 14 hours, in 3 days.

My opinion is that they dont check your time played, its just that if some bugger decides to mess with you, reporting you if they see you in the same zone, then when they check ul get banned. thats what happened to me after @ 19 hours. Some bugger saw my char in the same zone and reported me, banhammer was incoming so i moved everything i could out of him. Lucky for me was a 72 hours ban

Nobody here knows how or even if they analyse log files for certain behavior, like online time, but if you want to be safe just try to act as human like as possible.

Don't bot like 16 hours straight - then go offline - repeat same next day
Just put in some random looking behavior, use aRelog do mutiple relogs (different offline/online time) each day and switch profiles. Play a bit yourself, do an instance or battleground. That's the best you can do to stay safe.

I'm inclined to believe that the online time doesn't really matter. How many hardcore guilds spend 10-15h+/day for weeks in order to progress. They don't see them getting banned.
But if you spend 10h/day for a couple of days and then flood the AH with tons of mats, then that might raise some question marks.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, that would even make sense :)
But still, people are getting banned for grinding, right? I'm grinding rep/mounts at least 8 hours a day. I've seen 1 other player "watching" me. But I were watching my bot so I wrote a short message and he flew away. My point is, if this were 100% true (that they ban for AH flooding), grinders like me wouldn't get banned ever.

i got 72 on all my accounts just bc ive been in Uldum, true for more than 20 hours... and then changed to deepholm and hyjal nonstop no other ban for months
and i got a bc account for ah also 24/7 with PB , no ban for over 6 months...
they know ure botting, but as long as u dont flood, as long as u not selling raw matts on ah is ok i guess

botting most of the time for 10-18 hours a day, sometimes on rep grinds or pets 48+ hours.

i dont believe they watch it, player reports will get you banned imo, or *** up the ah.

In the off chance that you're worried about time, then just get aRelog and set it up to have you play for X hours, and then Idle for whatever time you want, and loop those tasks. That's what I did. I play for 3 hours, then idle for 15 minutes, and it loops. You can also have it randomize those times if you wanted. You just put in a set time, then check the randomize box, and it multiplies your entered time by a random integer, which gives you random times. It's a rather helpful standalone application.

i've had one perma ban (repealed) and it was for staying online nonstop doing the same thing repeatedly. I've never had a ban when doing PVP, Questing, Grinding, and anything else that doesn't involve picking up the same thing over and over in an infinite loop.

I have also played by hand for 24, 48, and 72 hour sessions in the past..... never been banned. If you really want to know take 2 days off and sit at your keyboard mining for 2 days.....

No, it's a load of crap and speculation like everything else that floats around.

Ofc it's only speculations. If any of us knew how the system works, we would of found ways to beat it. Nevertheless I SPECULATE that if one is online for 10+ hours in a single zone or even 2-3 zones and then fills the AH with hundreds of mats, something smells fishy. Just my point of view.

You can stay as much as you wish online. AS FAR AS i HAVE SEEN, you only get autobanned for suspicious activities, and online time is NOT one of those monitored things.
