Seriously, this isn't even counting pre-pubescent kids.
I saw a post where a dude made a suggestion on their forums suggesting a price drop for old expansions so more people could get Cataclysm, and this he got:

we all have money issues. if u cant buy wrath or cata then its not up to then or us to make it better for you.

I mean, seriously?! Why would any player AT ALL be against price drops? And check out that attitude.
And this is the posting community. In-game players are even worse assholes. I had 15 year olds call me fag and noob during a whole AV game because I was undergeared (I mean, why the fuck would I try to gear myself if I'm 70 and as soon as I get to WotLK zones I'll get aweome greens, amirite?) but they hushed when everyone followed my strategy, we won, and I was like 3rd in the scoreboard (as another player said that same match, skill > gear my friends). And I'm not bragging, I'm not even that good of a player :(

Well, If you want to buy the game for me, I'll be glad to :D

I voted for you're a dick... cuz you know what they say about dicks and assholes, right ?
(if not, please see Team America: World police)

Team America is sort of an old movie, so it's been a while since I saw it :P
Refresh my mind with a youtube video? :)

The majority of people ONLINE are assholes, just because they can.
We all can hide behind our computer screens and talk shit, and no one could do anything about it.

So try not to get angry over people who wanna look like idiots. The pricedrop would be a great idea, but Blizzard wants money.

here you go.. enjoy:

This.

And I have heard that there may be plans to combine Vanilla, BC and WotLK into a new battlechest after Cataclysm is released. But don't count on it happening before next summer.

Strictly speaking, whatever you do in your game is non of other gamers' business. If they think you break TOS, they should report you. If they think you are bad for the team, they should kick you. Insulting other people about a game is for hopeless people. Unfortunately, there are many of them. I think best thing to do is just to ignore them. We can't change the world! Many people hate botters, but there are a lot of botters around. They can't change that either. Lol.

I remember I was sitting in IF a few weeks back. I was checking my mail and a level 12 came to IF and asked in trade chat, "Can anyone tell me where the Ironforge Auction House is.. I can not seem to find it" . Then it was like a bomb exploded in trade chat. For the next 2 minutes the entire trade chat nerfed the poor guy.

He explained that he had just upgraded from a trial account and didnt know where everything was at but he found a green and wanted to sell it at the AH.

Then it got worse. They laughed and told him to link it in trade chat. After he figured out how to link items it started all over again. The item was some armor and wasnt worth 20 silver at the AH but how they nerfed him even more was just uncalled for.

"Who the fuck would pay to buy that peice of shit item" and "you are dumb, no one would AH that item, no one would want it."

I mean common, the poor guy was new at the game and wanted to make a few silver and by asking a simple question he got jacked by all the "experts" in the game. A few people did come to his defense but he logged off and I havent seen him online since then. I felt so bad for him. Sorry all you fuckers out there. We all started somewhere. I was new once, you were new once. No need to be an asshole and smother everyone with your "I played the game before the game was even thought of" bullshit.

I find that most are assholes when there's an audience present e.g. Trade channel, bg/raid chat etc. But very rarely the players act that way in whispers. Like the av example that you gave, most of the players that complain about gears complain about it openly because it makes them feel superior and important. Of course this isn't just restricted to wow, as long as a normal person is given anonymity and audience, he or she can become the biggest asshole you'll ever meet, just read any unmoderated Internet forums =).

I got called noob by my mate when i just started playing 2 weeks later i was 80 and out geared him :P

I gotta admit though he is elite at shaman he can out dps most of my guild other than the guild mage

I believe that anyone will talk out their ass if they feel safe behind a computer screen. All children, and even adults, do it. As long as they're safe from physical confrontation then they will run their mouths all day long spilling idiocy. Sometimes the things they say are true, but the tone, or context, it's used in isn't needed. It happens anywhere really; computer games, forums, posting communities, instant messaging, email, etc. It's just something you have to get used to, shrug it off, and shout at the computer screen at how much of a dick they are, then go on about your business and forget about it.

I never was a newb!

As i started the game, unlike all the others back in Nov 2004, i had over 10 gold in cash as i was lvl 18. And everyone asked my how the fuck i had that much gold, all of them wondered and because they where so newb they told me i make too less damage and i am a newb and i dont use more spells ... I used Thunderstomp and Heroic Strike.

I remember the release straight after beta. I played for 20 hrs straight and got to level 21 (which was fast back then) and had people whispering me in if asking how to level so quick. Its weird how the games changed, my shammy is now 65 with 20 hrs played due to raf.

i can produce you 4 lvl 60s in 12 hours total :( how about that
and another 3 within 5 hours after that ^^

welcome to online gaming lol, ever played on xbox live? just don't take it personally and you'll be alright.

uh yeah. being an ass is easy. being a nice guy is so hard. mostly because the asses ridicule you.
