Do you get soft ban, before a perm ban?

Title... any experience on this? or they can perm ban you without any soft ban.

my buddy just got his level 28 account banned and he manually played it to 25 he received no email or anything no previous softban just deletion of account (we know this because we created another account and used same name!)

he used pokefarmer from 25-28 and sniped 2 guys from bluestacks, he got banned yesterday afternoon although he was playing that morning without botting/sniping in 2 days

I got catch flee first. After try at least 4 times and failed to catch pokemon from phone then i stop until 12 hour to login then i got failed to receive data from server.. Level 39. Huhu

I received an IP ban, then perma ban. My wifes account which for obvious reasons, I was EXTREMELY careful with is now permabanned as well.

Either they can detect the bot or their threshold for banning is VERY low.

Maybe, I got soft baned both time, than the perm ban hammer. I could care less, because those are account I made for this bot. My half self played, Iphone + macbook pro (xcode iphone developer mode) none 3rd party API, sniping, walking didn't get any of my lvl 25 account baned .
