Ditto

I do apologize if this question has been asked already but with catching pidgeys and rattatas can the bot determine if it is really a ditto or not?

I'm not sure if it'll show as a Ditto before catching it, but you can catch Ditto with the bot. If I'm not mistaken, the bot will show what the Ditto is disguised as. But after catching it, or maybe after refreshing your pokemon list, it will show as Ditto. I've caught a few using the bot

That is correct. The bot is merely emulating a client, and a client (bot or human) needs to catch the pokemon first.

It is for the same reason that Ditto cannot be sniped or tracked...that is unless someone already figured it out.

ditto is currently able to be sniped as of last week and tracked for a while now, however the trackers do it as you described, catching Pokémon, not sure how the sniper site does it but I'd imagine it's the same concept or at least similar
