difference between mulit and single zone profiles?

[Hi on Helium]

When I first started using GB several months ago, I read something about how GB reads what zone it's in and what zone the profile was in, so it complicated making multi zone profiles. so i was just wondering if there's anything special i need to do when making a profile that goes over more than one zone?
