Did Bliz change the Tos ? How can we protect against it???

Hey guys , the client just updated again but this time it wanted me to resign the TOS .. Well I didn't really have crap to do so I decided to sit and read the new TOS.

First thing section 2 , yea thats all about us and for the most part most of us break that constantly lol.

How ever what caught my eye was the Bold face section 5 now that says " Concent to Monitor" saying it will scan our Ram and look for 3rd party programs and report back to bliz. In Past TOS I don't remember it. I remember them talking about it and the issue being it was illigal because of " something something ppl play wow at work with secret files"

So if they really are now scaning our RAM I know how to change the soft lable on HB but I asum we will need to change the description as well and that is little tricker. Seeing as it is a New build and new TOS aggrement. I wonder what the Dev's thoughts are on this matter and forgive me if section 5 has always been in bold face letters like that as hell ... NO one reads that crap just click accept!

So the point of this thread is How to do we protect from getting busted? I think a Dev should update the HOW TOO GUILD and Include ADVANCE Mesures to Protect us! Not looking for the "bot safe" answer but somehting similar to Running wow in a Virtual Machine for hardwear ID , ***** for IP maybe and last how to change the lable on HB even it's discription so it doesn't flat out read in your system info ... Wow.exe Honnorbuddy.exe (you can just rename the .exe but the description will still be there) How ever doing so makes the auto updater bug out so you have to fresh install each time cuz it's looking for the normal HB client .exe

On a side note I also just read Blizzard is not responcible for the end of the war in section

AN ?UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM? AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE THAT, WHEN USED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE GAME, WOULD CONSTITUTE A VIOLATION OF SECTIONS 1, 2 OR 7. IN THE EVENT THAT THE GAME DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, BLIZZARD MAY (a) COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM WAS DETECTED; AND/OR (b) EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER ANY BLIZZARD AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER.

B. Last I love Wow and I love HB as my name says so lets combat these issues ahead of time and be open and honest for the love of the comunity and stay in biz for the Lolz!
 
force majeure is in most contracts, letting the provider of the contract out in cases of war.. not making them responsible for it.

So i read where a user posted similar thing in http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...030-interesting-response-about-appealing.html

The general responce was " they can't scan us because it's illigal " like I stated above... Well it has been my experence that when it's in BOLD FACE LETTERS LIKE THIS!!! it usually means .. yea this is what were doing REGARDLESS OF PENDING CASES EVEN IF "SAD" orders are in place!... SO .. Burry your head in the sand if you like I still think the wise should take the simple steps and help the comunity figure out how to negate this CLEAR FACT they are scanning and I personally would like to maybe have the description of HB left blank that way the User can just rename the HB .exe to what ever they like and lets see if the amount of Bans goes down?

Screw that if the world ends I want to go out playing wow... Ever seen the movie " looking for friends for the end of the world" ... last moments playing wow... "Server will shut down in 10 minutes"
 
What are you on about...? They always wrote in ban mails and pretty much everything else that they have the ability of scanning RAM for unapproved 3rd party programs. It doesn't mean that their scan goes outside wow.exe. Honorbuddy doesn't tamper with the executable (in a detectable manner).

I swear if HB team would get 2 cents for each "AMAGAD BOT Detect0rd 4srs this thyme, breaking news unseen ticket response inside" threads, where same old macros and expressions get "rediscovered", they'd afford to provide us HB for free.

The only real concern is their access to Windows Registry - which is both legal, and can provide further evidence of a 3rd party program actually being present on the potentially offending machine. In other words, if a GM is 99% sure you bot (same waypoints, weird uptime, etc.), the "C:/Games/Honorbuddy/" entry might be that last 1% needed for an undeniable unappealable 100% perma4eva.

You are correct with all, but the last line of text!

If GM read the "C:/Games/Honorbuddy/" in the Registry somehow (but they do not, since even if they attempt to do it, every skilled enough reverse engineer will track it down and fire the forums and blogs about it),
that GM will involve the company in serious legal troubles, since AGAIN ang AGAIN, its ILLEGAL enough, to gain personal information from your costumers, and to USE it - no matter for what!

And its pretty useless - they do not need that 1%, the 99% is enough, indeed, and most bans are solid standing, when the meter reach 99% ;)

I personally would feel alot more comfortable if they just took the description off of the HB.exe that way we can rename it to what ever we want and not feel such at risk for if they do this anyways. Doesn't seem like a hard request or mesure to ensure warden or some other program doesn't auto flag you.

pretty sure you can do that yourself with a hex editor
 
You know it's funny because I remember having this reaction back in 2006 when we first found out about the dreaded Warden, and the entire Glider community flipped the fuck out.

just because 1000 people say it is illegal, it isn't necessary really illegal.

if 1.000.000 people say sharks can fly 1 mile, does it mean sharks made the next step in evolution?
i had this discussion often here, and nobody was able to give 1 hard paragraph, article or anything.
 
Honestly, I think im done with wow for good. FF14 is coming up soon, and it seems to be a solid game with an already solid community.

Ill be enjoying that, and maybe getting my foot in the botting startup over there if im lucky ;)

Just doesnt seem to be worth the time and effort anymore to sell gold on this game.
 
easier than that, why not edit the process name, description, and version number to something such as iTunes or Internet Explorer.. wait no internet explorer might be a red flag xD. But honestly this would be easier than hiding the process.
 
I like the idea of hiding the info. Toss me a link to show how to do that?
 
In some places, the EULA means NOTHING, and blizzard got in a huge shitstorm the last time they were scanning things outside of the wows memory region ie, the names of programs running at the same time as wow.

That is why for now, blizzard can and has only been scanning within the memory region that it uses when open. So, if HB gets detected, a HELL of a lot more people will report being banned, as for me; i will continue to bot.
