@Devs/Nesox: Fix your bot

why do all the foreign whiteknights feel they have to defend the developers? its been 15 days since ros released and the bot has yet to offer proper support to the added content - pretty much unacceptable

You paid for a D3 bot and you can use it. If it has bugs, please report the bugs in the Support Section and attach a logfile. Bugs will be fixed in one of the upcoming versions then.
New Features need more time to be implemented and they need to be tested too.
Btw. if we release features to fast, other people start to whine on the board why we're not fixing known issues before releasing new features so no matter what the devs do, they cannot satisfy everyone.
RoS with Rifts and all of this stuff is new and will be supported but there is no ETA, no we give statements about what the devs are currently working on because it leads to the things "_Steve_" brought up in his post (http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonbuddy-forum/157466-devs-nesox-fix-your-bot.html#post1464510).

inb4 lock because they got your money and they dont care anymore

Thats a super stupid comment! Devs are around and released a lot of updates and fixes last days which shows you that we care.

mods who troll, fantastic

Also Mods have an opinion and they are free to share it. I can understand the subtext in Tony's post showing that comments like these frustrates every Supporter and Dev a lot.

This whole thread does not make any sense.
Critism is fine but it should be constructive.
If there are bugs, you know where and how to report them.
If you want features I suggest you create a kind of "wishlist" thread describing nice and friendly what you need.
Do not expect everything to be implemented and also do not expect a Dev answering it or other things going to happen within hours.
Things are considered and if there is time and they make sense they will find their way into the product.
Things take time so show patience please.

I think you misunderstood the original post.

For me, its not about "wanting to whine" or "getting everything NAO" or wanting more features in DB. If it was about that, i'd point out the fact that there are other bots already running rifts and bounties like someone here said. I frankly don't care about that, i've been with DB for 2 years and i want to stick with it. No, for me its about open communication with your customers. If even blizz can do it, why can't you?

no we give statements about what the devs are currently working on because it leads to the things "_Steve_" brought up in his post (http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonbuddy-forum/157466-devs-nesox-fix-your-bot.html#post1464510).
Lets take a look at what Steve wrote.

You realize if Nesox posted a thread saying "I'm working on rifts and bounties" then it would just lead to a million more questions "When will it be done?" "Will it include this?" "Been waiting for weeks for this and nothing!!@!@". Why can't you just accept that Nesox is working on it, and it will be done when it's done? Even Nesox can't predict when it'll be done.
Well, i got two things to say about this.

1: So what if it leads to questions? All questions about the progress should be posted in the Beta thread or in a new thread and Tony should lock or remove all threads created outside of the one thread. So if all questions are in one thread, and? It will just be a thread with a lot of questions. What's so bad about that? Are you opposed because you're afraid that thread will haunt Nesox in his sleep? Will it prevent him from eating? Make him depressed? Prevent him from working on the bot? No. So again, so what if there's questions?

2: My suggestion actually wouldn't involve questions since you don't seem to like them. Its easy enough. Just make a thread called "Future DB Updates", make it sticky and lock it and have Nesox post an update on his work once a week. If you want you can even put a disclaimer in the post saying people who make question or ETA threads about what nesox posts will be muted.

The benefits of this would in my opinion be:
- Open communication
- No questions from people
- No more people asking for communication/updates
- Your customers wouldn't be in the dark, not knowing whats going on
- Your customers would know what the devs are working on and what's planned for the future

Downsides
- Nesox has to take 5 minutes of his time once a week to post updates in that thread
- ????????

This doesn't seem unreasonable, imo.

This whole thread does not make any sense. Critism is fine but it should be constructive.
Pointing out a problem and presenting possible solutions is the definition of constructive criticism.

Things take time so show patience please.
Its not about the fact that we are too impatient to wait for new features or bug fixes, its about the fact we'd like to know what's going on through updates from the dev team.

Mods are allowed their opinion. ;)

I may not be as skilled as Nessox or the other devs here, but I am not clueless about reverse engineering. I know things can take time, but something like another affix does not take a whole month.

When I report things like this in the bug section I get told to attach a logfile...

Back when Sarkoth was nerfed about 2 years ago, quite a few programming contributors got tired of the slow development speed.

http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonbuddy-forum/62346-creator-agb-gone-forum-db.html

I remember the first couple months pathfinding was server side for DRM purposes, and it caused everyone's bots to freeze every couple hours because your servers couldn't handle it. There are still glitches in pathfinding: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonb...iles/act-2/155677-bigsnake-ssthrass-farm.html

The random dungeon explorer is also incomplete. In it's current state it forces you to make the squares at the cost of walking through every inch of the map. If your squares are too big it will try to walk across walls.

I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that combating Blizzard warden may take up a lot of time, but it has now been almost 2 years and arcane beam position still is not available. Please note though that I am not demanding DB to have perfect support for rifts and bounties unlike most people here.

This is no argument. If others jump from a cliff would you?
If other bot coders have rifts and bounties and thats what you need now, you have to use those other bots.
I will not give a statement on how good or secure they are but we will release these features when they are done and implemented according to internal priorities.

Devs should develop and not post here. If there is something we wanna share with the public we do but what you claim is telling you everything we do. Sorry but this is internal.
There is a changelog every time you get a bot update but we do not give an ETA for fixes or features.

No we will not do this. We had this in the past. Devs filled in things they currently try and work on but removed code later on and people where pissed off not seeing the functions in an update. No matter if you have a disclaimer or not.

The benefits of this would in my opinion be:
- Open communication
- No questions from people
- No more people asking for communication/updates
- Your customers wouldn't be in the dark, not knowing whats going on
- Your customers would know what the devs are working on and what's planned for the future

People will always ask and we have communication. If this is not enough for you I am sorry but I do not see the need to tell everyone whats going on behinde the scenes.
What is planned and what not will never be shared. Like I said above, sometimes things are not going live or other things get higher prio so the release dates change and so on.
All things we had, all things where people got enraged for.
Btw. there is another reason why we do not share what we plan: competitors! Welcome to the business world!

Downsides
- Nesox has to take 5 minutes of his time once a week to post updates in that thread
- ????????

No he has not. We have a newsletter, a release forum, facebook, twitter and so on.
No need for more info than we have right now.

Its not about the fact that we are too impatient to wait for new features or bug fixes, its about the fact we'd like to know what's going on through updates from the dev team.

Like I said, if there is something to share we will do so but for the moment its not planned to force the devs showing the public on what they work and how they spent their time :D

People sometimes expect to much.
If I buy Winrar for example I am not even thinking about getting an update from their Devs on a weekly basis on what they do and what not.
One day they release a new version with bug fixes and hopefully new interesting features but you will never see someone giving info on whats on the pipe and what not.
Do not expect this to happen here. All info you need is there.
If you have a bug and think it is important it does not mean that it has highest prio for others or even for us.
When its on the bugtracker it will be fixed according to the roadmap and prio for example nesox sets.
In regards of new Features we're not going to talk about them until we're sure things can be done and we can show a first beta or something like this.
Everything else would set an expectation which maybe then cannot met and that would be even worse.

So if you need things other offer atm. go with their product until we offer the same. There is no way around. There will be no promises, not ETAs.

Regards
BotOp

Sums up the whole thread. Demonbuddy is dying.

So to sum it up: "Stop bothering us, we do things in our own time and you better just accept it. Demonbuddy is not a priority to us anymore and any income that we get from it at this point is just a bonus"

rift and act4 bounty runs pretty decent, almost good enough for AFK, there are fixes being worked on, mostly due to trinity and the random dungeon issuel. As you all aware, trinity was made before ros and the support for ros isn't here, rewriting major parts of trinity to accommodate rift is an ongoing process. I can confirm the fixes are been worked on and is the top priority.

FTFY

So to sum it up: "Stop posting useless spam threads where known issues that are being worked on are complained about by people who have been around for less than a month and don't take the time to read stickies/other posts. Fixing bugs for existing bot is priority #1 because that is what people paid for, any other features that are released (such as bounty/rift support) is just a bonus. We do things in our own time, which is as fast as possible because we have lives as well, and all issues are not as straight forward as the average user may think. Demonbuddy and all buddy products are all a priority - Demonbuddy consistently has the highest forum users at any given time."

Haha, you're a funny one. Ever considered going the comedian route?
