Delete an item from your bag

Is there a way to delete the an item from my bags?

I keep getting that distress beacon and my character sits there trying to loot it while I have one in my bags.

Use the beacon, after that I don't think it drops for you, I could be wrong.

yeah, Loot Filter is best imo. Just check the delete box with "quest" in quality tab and You will not have that problems any more.
