Just wanted to mention in case it means anything...
I installed 2 new copies of the WoW-US Client today on fresh VM's, and both times the WoW Installer defaulted to trying to install on my Desktop..
Normally in the past it always installed by default into Program Files (x86).
The reason I thought it might be significant is that Windows 7 puts more restrictions on file permissions when they are in the Program Files (x86) structure.
I remember having to move my WoW outside of that and onto my desktop to get Glider to work properly back in the day..
2 weeks ago, this was still defaulting to the Program Files folder...
