Curious how far back the ban goes.

I unsubbed at the end of February. Was getting burned out and wanted to take a break for a few months. Was planning on coming back in June. I botted almost exclusively on my main account which is 6 years old.

My question is, how far back does the ban go? I doubt they just turned on their detection tool last week and just banned everyone who happened to be logged in at that moment. Did anyone else either not bot or not play for any period of time before the ban and get banned anyway? If so, how long were you not botting/playing for?

I stoped playing back in jan/feb, and thought about begning again a few weeks prior to the ban, but never came around and did it.

Not banned till now, stopped playing in feb/early march started playing again one week befor the banwave but only used enyo the last month! never used another bot never used another botbase (the last few month)

i 5 botted dungeons to level 90 at the end of Pandaria so i could have a line up of alts to sell as i get them raid geared. Of the 5 accounts, i use one for gold farming, and one for raiding and CRs only. Both, were banned and the other 3 i had just before WOD release are still fine.

Judging on the latest update from bossland. I'm betting they did multiple malware injections every so often. So maybe they were catching more and more people and some people were dodging the bullet by not logging in at certain times. I'm thinking their malware wasn't permanently on your machine because that could get them in trouble. I'm thinking the malware would be injected for x amount of hours or days scan then send back and remove itself. Just seems like it makes much more sense since people are being banned at different times.

That is very telling. So they've been detecting at least since the prior xpac. Anyone not banned likely just got lucky regarding when they played.

yea or maybe they just used a system that looks for patterns. e.g someone fishing that casts exactly 0.2 seconds after looting every cast and clicks the bobber exactly x time after it bites. or a rogue who kicks X spell exactly X seconds into the cast every time, its not humanly possibly to do the same actions down to the exact time all the time. combining this with simple stuff like players who use 32bit and windowed mode etc (requirements for the bot to work) for cross reference or simply to strengthen the verdict.

Show me 1 player who can do the exact same thing down to the split second for more then 10 minuets, pfft show me 1 person who can do it for more then 5 casts... fishing is basic but every profile is 100% a pattern...
