CPU running hot if more that one HB is running

Hi,

My CPU runs hot (72-74 degrees) if I run more than 1 HB on my computer?

It doesnt matter if I run 2,3,4 or 5 HB it still goes to 72-74 degrees, but if I only run 1 HB then it will run between 46 and 52 degrees.

What could cause this?

CPU Usage 100% even with 2 HB could cause this.
HB wont crash if its slowed down while you use 5 sessions.

Install a monitor tool and have a look at it.

CPUs get hot with activity.
you may need to look at your cooling system.
open your case, examine your cooling fins on the cpu heat sink.
clean your case fans.
make sure your case fans/CPU fan are working correctly.

you may be familiar with your computer, it may be new, but things wear out/get dirty.
sometimes computer parts fail too soon and often without warning.
it may be something simple like your cooling hardware just isnt operating with the same efficiency it once was.

Btw what is your CPU? my i7 4790k gets to even 80 degrees with custom air cooling, that is because of the clock boost, if you are running an intel you shouldn't worry until you get near 90

Way too much, shouldnt be more than 50°C. I´m sorry but even with 5-10 bots he shouldnt reach the 55°C - higher temp reduces the performance :X

open your pc and replace your heat paste (buy arctic cooling @amazon =4-6 euro).

+ tell me your cpu, also intel i5-i7 got an intergrated graphic chip.

just give me more pc information.

Edit: i have an i5 4690(perfect cpu vor botting + gaming :X) and never saw him higher than 55°C (5-10 bots + random game/desktop applications)

its very good advice to upgrade your cooling paste but take your time to actually learn how to do it. research the different methods and pick one and stick with it. sped a couple hours watching videos and reading guides before removing your heat sink. research until you are confident. everyone has their favorite method, but honestly they are close in effectiveness if done well.

take your time, keep it clean and did i mention, take your time.

Arctic Silver 5 is a very good paste. and a tiny tube will last you years. that is, if you can remember where you keep it. ive had the same tube for 6 years now and applied it on more than a few computers.

and you would do well to upgrade your heat sink if you are going through the trouble of replacing paste.

you dont have to spend a lot of money to get a decent cooler. good cable management can save you plenty. an expensive heat sink cannot be effective if you have low airflow.

I'm pretty familiar with my PC, and have built it myself.

Its an I7 - 2600K (3 years old approx.) - Just running the stock cooler atm, but I have a Noctua NH-D14 laying on the shelf for some months now that I just havent gotten around to installing yet, but I guess now is as good a time as any Just been lazy with the project and also the general cleaning of my computer.

and it could also be that the thermal paste is just dry and doesn't do hes job right

You can also "invest" in some filters on the fans that is blowing into pc. They are realy cheep.

stock coolers are fine if you just run a server, because most servers just uses a I3 or a xeon and those will not that hot fast.
but yes this PC is pure torture

looool a cpu should normaly have between 30 and 50 degrees...all over 70 degrees is critical and bad for the cpu...

Idle my Xeon 1230v1 has ~34 degrees and under last (5-15 wows + bots) ~50-55 degrees (with a Thermalright HR-02 MACHO Fan)...

But in this case i think its the heat paste who makes the problem, because with a stock fan he should normaly not go over 55-60 degrees.

So got it cleaned and the Noctua installed now, and now running 5xHB and 1xBW, and temp is rock solid at 30 degrees

Even found out the the 4 chassis fans (1xlarge and 3xmedium) had speed regulators on the outside of my antec chassis, and putting them at max lowers it to 25-26 degrees, but the noise is too much

I7 2600k 5 Years old (buyed it at release). Running in summer at 70-80° Celsius for ~6-8 hours without any problem. You kill a modern cpu with vcore, not with temperature. With air cooling I cant get below 40 in summer. Cause under the roof the temperature IS 40° C. Damn hot. Sitting there with a wet towel and so on (if outdoor the air is worse I wont go out, if its fresher the pc is off of course).
Normally a system wouldnt last that long but upgraded it a few times...ssd...bigger ssd....bigger ssd/new graphic card.

If the cpu survive 4 years its ok for me. Never grilled a cpu.

i have an i7 3770k atm and my cpu useage runs at 10 % and normal cpu from speedfan on 60% that is normal but im going to build a new pc this month with i7 4790k and more in it

Most times I run the cpu in idle mode at 1650 Mhz. Ofc at this conditions it never go hot. Needs only 10+ Watt. Fans set to 25% and all is fine. With 5 HB + 5 WoW there is a lot of lagging in dungeons (ca 15+Watt). If I switch to max power the lagging is gone, the cpu grabs around 80 watts and is going hot to 70°C+ at 4450 Mhz.

Next system I´ll choose water cooling. But with amd radeon 290 graphics in new games are always fine atm. System didnt crash with 5 WoW Sessions at ULTRA (was an accident) and 5 HB Sessions. No need for a new system atm.

my i7 2600k running at 4.5ghz is usally on 40-55c with the nh-d14 both fans are running on 9v (or 7v) not sure anymore how the current is lowered by the default supplyed cables
+ a good cooled tower 3x 120mm + 1x 140 fans on 7v, but since i switched from my asus cu II 6950 (3 slot) -> sapphie x290 tri-oc the pc isn´t that silent anymore but thats offtopic

290 or 290x? I´ve the sapphire 290 Tri oc with 3 80mm fans. Set the fans to 35% the card is very silent. Temp ~70°C with heavy usage, but not more. At first I thought this would be too much, but its not.
