Could anyone give me an example of how the item.Enchant method would work?

I'm a little confused on how it would work. It takes a variable of Item type. I'm not sure exactly what it would be asking. Is the variable the item that is being used to do the enchanting or is the item to be enchanted?

And is enchant synonymous with regrade or is it socketing or is something else?
