How do you balance your stats normally and finding out the correct upgrade?

I am having trouble knowing what to give up if it's an increase on dmg and decrease on toughness. Is there a calculation or a ratio that you all use?

As Bobbie said, there are many great guides and builds available on diablofans.com.

Also, there is a GUIDE section on these forums that can provide you with information that has worked well for other botters.

With that said, there is the ITEMLIST included in Trinity. Once you learn what items and stats you want, you can setup ItemList to only keep items which will be upgrades for you. When multibotting, I have an itemlist for each account that I update each time I get an upgrade. This allows me to have to scour through all of the characters on each account to see if I should keep a given item or not.

As an example, say a Best In Slot Shoulder is a set item and your current stats on that shoulder are:
Non-Ancient
450 Primary Stat
450 Vitality
90 All Resist
7% Resource Cost Reduction

And the PERFECT STATS for that shoulder are:
Ancient
650 Primary Stat
650 Vitality
15% Life
15% Skill Damage

You can tell ItemList on that specific item that:
Must have Properties (0):

And At Least 3 of 5

Primary Stat 450
Vitality 450
LifePercent 10
SkillDamage 10
Ancient

Once you get an Ancient item that WORKs for you, then you can move ancient to the MUST HAVE list and leave the rest as 3 out of 4. That way it will only keep items that can be re-rolled to your favored stats at the mystic.
