Config Files

Two questions:

1. which config files do I have to save, when installing a fresh new HB version? The complete settings folder?
2. is it wise to do that? Or do the settings change often from version to version?

I play several chars and I do not want to set up food, drink, mount, IB settings etc. every time I update HB in a fresh folder.

Or is it really better to set it up from scratch every time?
