Computer shuts off?

Just wondering if there is a way to run more bots more efficiently. I have a really good PC but after putting up 4 bots and a few other things; after enough time my PC will give a blue screen (windows 8.1) saying something went wrong and restart. Does anyone know if it because im demanding to much from the PC or is there anything I can do?


Running the 4 my PC is only using about 25% of the CPU and 30 % of the memory.

Update: was running at 80 celc; any tech savy person here know a good overclock / underclock i can do to lower that since its not even using a ton o fthe memory?

I have an i4770k; and mobo is SABERTOOTH z97 Mk 1

Its because the computer is overheating. I believe that once it runs at 80c for a while the computer will shut itself off to prevent any damage.

But it did say unknown error; and i checked my h100i and it is pumping water through. Do you think it is better cooling to pull the cold air into the rig a opposed to blowing the air out (via the radiator).

When i run the 3 bots; I get temps between 60-75 (75 is the highest, avgs out around 62-65) but as soon as i load up the 4th and start running the temps spike to 75-80

OH for the record its the windows 8.1 Stop Error. and it says its an unknown reason; im trying to remember how to get the log but dont remember where it is.

reset your cmos to reset your bios settings.. and dont overclock and try. Stop errors like that are normally caused by hardware.. You didnt specify which video card you are using, if its nvidia and if you've updated the driver recently, try rolling back.. if its ati.. get nvidia (jk.) .. but first just remove any OC'ing you are doing and give it a try.

Also, did you update your mobo firmware lately? I once upon a time had a sabertooth z97, and the firmware was bad, which caused video drivers and sound drivers to conflict and bsod every single time i tried playing a game.. just trying to toss ideas to see what could be causing it.

Removed all OC'ing; and I have a GTX780. Since i removed all the OC'ing I have yet to crash and I am hovering around 75-85 with a peak of 89c with tempature; is that to hot to run consistently?
 
89C is getting up there a bit.. I mean thats 192.2 ..if you're getting that with no OC, i would really hate to see that peak with running OC... you're not using stock cooler are you?.. but mind you.. you are running 4 games.. cpu isnt that happy.
 
If you are using case fans, just make sure dust isnt covering them, make sure dust isnt packed in the heatsink(unless using liquid), and make sure fans are pointed in correct directions to move air in and out of the case in a steady stream.. If your case has two fans in the front where hdds are, try to move hdds up or down a slot to allow more air flow to get through.. I personally wouldnt like to see my cpu above 85C and its a 2700k..

Valid; do you think the 65-70 I average with three would be ok? Then i could just bot with the money makers while im at sleep/at work/in class

and do you think that those temps are high using a h100i; or does that seem about right for running 4 instances of the game?

80C would be fine.. 85C would be pushing it imo.. 89C would just be too high.. imo.. 65C is average for medium load.. so you shouldnt have any issues with 80-85C ..most stress testers try to push for a steady 85, and stop once it gets above that.. just make sure you have decent air flow through out the case if you are not using liquid cooling and you should be fine.. Even check the heat sink on the cpu to make sure its not crowded with dust and debri.. you'd be very surprised how much of a difference that makes.. I have 2 cats and 2 ferrets and i often need to clean out my cpu heat sink.. it makes a world of difference...

I would recommend, if you are using a cpu fan to just take it off, clean the heat sink, apply more thermal paste.. and that should help you out alot.

Yeah; edited the above post to say im using a h100i corsair water cooler. I also took the sides off the case to increase the air flow. I am going to pick up some thermal paste one of these days; clean it off and re-apply. See if that helps.
 
Anything under 100C where intel processors auto thermal throttling kicks in is absolutely fine. H100 and h100i are both pieces of shit. I used to use a h60 and 'upgraded' to and h100 and my temps went up. Only the asetek designed corsair products are worth using. Now I use a swiftech h240-x.

As for the drivers do a clean install of windows and get the latest drivers for everything straight from the component mfg instead of the mobo site.
 
I think it's a valid point, that if you have had the pc for a long time, got it stock, etc, you may REALLY want to reapply thermal paste, though, that's more than the average computer users is comfortable dealing with.

Also, have you checked your settings? you can make them mostly minimal in FFXIV, set the FPS limit to 30, (works great for my shitbox toaster laptop), you may also want to turn the settings down from your video card panel. I highly recommend doing so if you're planning on running several clients very frequently on one PC.

Consider it, It WILL bring down your temps fairly substantially.

Additionally, I recommend you disable bullshit from starting up automatically, msconfig is great for this, it's simple, easy, and very reversible.

Not going to tell you not to run antivirus, but your antivirus doing an automatic scan isn't going to help keep your PC cooler, remember that.


Lastly, very trusted software can be written like shit, for example, newer versions of uTorrent have memory leak issues when seeding that can tax your physical RAM heavily, I was sitting at 99% RAM usage, and was really getting irritated, Killing FFXIV dropped that to 90%, and it was taking up more than all of the other processes combined from the reported information in task manager/process explorer. After killing uTorrent, (it was only taking up a tiny bit of memory according to both process explorer AND task manager) my Physical RAM dropped from 90% to 20% instantly. uTorrent is still usable for me at this point, but only because I used Process Explorer to limit the I/O usage, which pretty much remedies the problem.

Moral of the story here, try to prevent Bullshit from starting up by itself, while I wanted uTorrent to start automatically, in this case, it really proved to be poorly written.
