Hey Buddies hope your all keeping well.
Over the last few month I've been wondering something and thought I would ask your opinions since there's been a few posts on wow closing the door on botters.
I haven't botted for very long so I don't really know the numbers of how many there actually is, but Blizzard at the end of the day is a business and as time has proved they are a very greedy business, so with this in mind would they really want to end botting? Surely it keeps the economy stable the servers populated and above all else it brings in money for blizz. So unless your doing something totally ridiculous drawing huge attention to yourself why would they want to ban you?
Personally I have one account my main since release I constantly use realm and faction transfer services which costs a fortune(lucky blizz) I use the bot to lvl alts grind mats to sell on ah so I can buy things for alts but I usually post them on diff chars sort of rotate it I know blizz can see this but other auction house users wont know.
Anyway im rambling now what is the community's opinion?

I do not think that they can/will stop bots.
With every new protection there will be new open doors for the developers of bots.
If i think back to counterstrike and stuff.. ESL, aequitas.. now all hacks use ring0 and
nobody can find anything, i think that blizz can?t and will never (really) try to stop bots.

No. They will never put an end to botting simply because as you said, they like money. Rather do some ban waves every now and then and bank some $$$ than end it all. Most people seem to think that Blizzard is this righteous entity that cares about the game/players and they are trying hard to stop botters/gold sellers. Blizzard is a business and just like any other business their main goal is to make money.

Now don't get me wrong, if botting gets out of hand (which it did this expansion imo) they will act. We've seen them more active in areas of the game that really affect the legit players (eg. bgs) thus making them to unsub.

PS. Saying that Blizzard *can't* stop botting is ignorant. Sorry, it just is. Hint: all they'd have to do is release a patch every 12-24 hours and the bot would break every single time. Pretty sure most of the players wouldn't mind downloading a 10-20 MB patch daily just to get rid of bots ;)

I think that right there is the real problem - speculation! Try to discard what you read as much as possible and take direction from the Dev's or members of this community who really do know what they're talking about. If you see a "Wtfomgbbq Blizz haz banwave lolz ruuuuuuuuuuuun" type thread, then ignore it, those threads are created by trolls who feed off your soul.

Thanks for the reply guys is nice to see some sensible thoughts I for one don't tend to listen to the trolls and doom bringers I am not worried about being banned even though its my main account I would just quit its only the bot keeping me playing when I first started playing I had all the time in the world n didn't mind all the hoops blizz had you jump through but now as ive aged I have gained a family and it would be impossible to play the game to the standard I like without the bot.
Thanks again for the replies

I'm a botter, but if I were a normal player /uninstall

I have been botting for going on 3-4 years now. started with pirox and now here with honorbuddy. I only started botting because I hated having to farm for mats for raiding and alts. I am a very low end botter, I dont bot 24/7 and I dont sell gold. I only bot to make the time I have to play wow more fun because I dont have to spend hours flying in circles for stuff and I usually only have it run for 3-4 hours at a time, mabye 3 days a week. I dont consider myself hurting the server economy or causing any issues. I did have a temp ban about a year ago, but i go my account back with a warning, and I only have 1 account. Now after saying that, and with my time learning about botting. I can see where some botters could hurt a server economy or make the game unfun.

For example: I am not a fan of the BG bots. When you are interacting with other players on a constant basis you can harm the game. most of the time when I see a bot in a bg they are not really helping win the game. they are just running around in circles attacking anthing they can target and not helping with the objective of the game. This really frustrates me because I love bgs and when you are trying to win it sucks trying to get the FC or take flag when you are basicly short a person or 2 because they are not doing what they are supposed to do. now this can also happen with people playing in general, but its just one thing im not a fan of for botting.

As for everything else, I see botters as really the ones that give Blizzard the most money. Many botters have 1-4 accounts or more and they all have to be paid for in some way or another. I dont see Blizzard going out and mass banning people as they would really lose out on a ton of money (unless most of the banned accounts just go out and rebuy, then thats just more $$$ for blizz). But I do think that that they do look for people who do nothing but bot all the time and just want to sell gold for really cash.

In the end. I wont stop botting no matter how much Blizzard does not like it. I still play the game myself most of the time. I just dont want to spend all of my play time manually farming, unless its honor kills. and I can honestly say that if I didnt bot, I probably would have quit wow a long time ago.

Just to make something long to something short.
Blizzard loves money - Blizzard needs subscribers - Blizzard close down bots - Blizzard loose hell a lot of player - Blizzard Loose HELL A LOT OF MONEY - Blizzard says NO to closing bots down!
They just ban now and then to make the non botters that play to look that somethng is happening and beeing done.
