Combat routines casuing lag spikes

Every time honorbuddy enters combat, there are periodic lag spikes. The lag spikes happen about every ten seconds and only last about 2-3 seconds. I have ticks per seconds set to 15. This only happens while in combat. I go from around 60-70 FPS to about 10-20 FPS.
