Close the Honorbuddy community?

Not entirely, mind you. And hear me out.

Every day we see scrubs come in asking for help with this and that, basically leeching off of the good nature of the community. They get their bot running, and then bugger off. Nothing inherantly wrong with that.

However, due to the open nature of this (and others. But mostly this) bot, there are more botters coming into "the game" every day - diluting personal profits as well as increasing visibility. It's not uncommon now to have Battlegrounds that are more bots than actual players. Eventually all we'll have is bots automatically dropping items into the Auction House for other bots to automatically buy.

I think that if we went the way of, say, Demonoid ... and only allowed people into the Honorbuddy community if they were sponsored by an existing member, then not only would there be far less competition and a better experience for every existing member - but with Honorbuddy being seen as some exclusive club, that would increase desirability. You wouldn't have a bunch of new people coming in every day complaining about how one thing or another doesn't work.

If revenue is an issue, I know I would be willing to pay a subscription fee for this club. I have my 3 Lifetimes, I'm set. I'm sure a few others are in this same boat, but I make enough through Honorbuddy that some recurring costs would hardly be noticed.
 
I doubt this will ever happen to be honest but I understand about the scrubs

I agree on what you have to say, though i don't think the HB Crew will do it, since they get new members every day, these peeps tell their friends and so on, wich leads this community to even be bigger and due to that the HB will earn more money.
Though, i like the way your thinking.
 
Bad for Bosslands pockets. So wont happen im pretty sure. About BGs... hell ye there needs to be done something about that i think. years back i always used that to lvl a farmer. Now i dont really dare cause 25 chars (bots) are runnin same pattern(AV that is), and its spottet right away. I think there should be made more and different profiles for BGs. If i could i would but dont have time to learn how to do it :(
 
Just ignore the scrubs and make gold the best you can.

I wouldn't want to pay a sub fee. I don't sell gold. I just use the bot for dailies, farming for gold for myself, and other tedious activities.
 
TL;DR - "I paid the same amount as everyone else but I deserve to be a special snowflake."

Most "scrubs" as you put it will mainly come here and farm herbs/minerals as it is the simplest to set up or use it for questing/grinding Alani type mobs. Fair enough that may impact your "Personal Profits" (which im guessing is the main reason you want less people?) but all you need to do is look at different avenues. For example, i farm Wildfowl breasts using a profile which has not recieved much attention at all. I've never seen anyone else in my spot apart from people doing the quest from the hidden master. I make a tidy profit off these breasts as i turn them into whatever the most valuable vegetable is or sell them outright for profit.

Rather than moan that your personal profits are going down and you're seeing more "scrubs" asking why their bot isnt working, try finding other ways to make gold and stop being a dick. Or, if you elitists are so intent on making your own personal club, why not start your own little "buy in" thread, where people post results from their best personal routes/profiles and then you pay to join the club- that way you get profiles which the "scrubs" wont have and wont pay for.
 
Everyone in this community has PAID for this service to become part of the community and use the bots, regardless if they're an idiot or not, you can't deny people of something they've purchased. Are you trying to say that nobody should be able to purchase Honorbuddy without an invite/recommendation from someone who's already in the community? If so, I feel you'll be incredibly disappointed, because at the end of the day, the creators need to make money.
 
I agree but not due to the scrubs

I even have said to codenameG etc on skype,

If a bot community had started off and closed its subscription, or open invites every 3-4months it would be amazing, and be better off imo but like many have said more money so yeah dont see why they would stop unfortunately

Can't help but agree with this post. Now while I agree with some key points in the original post- everyone here has indeed paid for the service.
