Most routers have a option to report a certain mac for the network. Using a fake one in this setting works just fine.

I like to try and make creative mac addresses using hexspeak.

What does the MAC have todo with Gatherbuddy/Honorbuddy? o,O

All computers nowadays come with a Network card, programmed from the factory to have a certain MAC address (Think of it like a phone's IMEI).

There is a theory that Blizzard tracks and records MAC addresses used on accounts, so... In theory, if they flag one account for botting / cheating... they can go and ban all accounts that've used that MAC address (Or in other words... kiss the system running eight bots making you $50 an hour bye-bye. 'till now.)
