Hi there!

This forum's search function is currently very annoying. It does not seem to even search for words that are three characters or less. This has annoyed me very much.

When I wanted to search for "Cleared POI spam bug" - which is something I had heard of before, but not experienced myself, it only searched for "Cleared, spam". I can't use any of the threads.

When I wanted to search for "AUTH BAD", it just searched for AUTH..

So please - would you consider making it actualy search for every part of the search?

Thank you in advance!

You have a very good point ive given up on search i just browse the forums manually to find stuff now

the thing that annoys me with the search is i type "bot not looting " or something like that. It will bring up a list of threads with those phrase in but it won't tell you were in the thread it appears so you have to look through the whole thing. Kind of makes the search button pointless imo.

Yes, this as well.. Though I wouldn't go as far as saying it's quite pointless....

Dont waste time posting about this sort of thing, they dont give a shit.

thats not true butane and you know it
some things are not our first priority,just this

Agreed, it was a stupid comment. I get cranky in the morning.
we are trying always for the best for all our users

but at the same time we have to deal with cracked versions,payment issues,forum issues,live support,normal patches,ninja patches,
Cata release,new features,requests from users,pms,emails...the fact that we are humans with real life and not ro(bot)s ....and bla bla bla :)

so,some things are on our first priority and some on second,third etc...
but believe me we are trying for the best

thx for your patience and your understanding

tbh fair play for that response tony i can see how it would not top priority so i guess as long as the dev's/mod's no there is an issue at some point it will get sorted

Understand that I did not mean this thread as criticism, but merely a suggestion for improvement :) I fully understand that you have a lot of stuff to do, and I believe you're doing a great job.. I was just putting it out there, as there is no way in hell that you're gonna be able to fix a bug if it's not submitted :D
Peace out.

This is easy to fix will take no more then 10 mins

For the internal vbulletin search function do this

In the AdminCP, go to vBulletin Options -> Message Searching Options -> Search Index Minimum Word Length

Change this to 3, and you should be able to search for 3 letter words.

Then you'll also need to rebuild your search index after doing this, so it will index the 3 letter words.

If the search is done by MYsql "fulltext" then you need to do this

Put the following four lines in an options file:
[mysqld]
ft_min_word_len=3

[myisamchk]
ft_min_word_len=3

Then restart MySQL and rebuild your fulltext indexes.

When the thread is pulled up, use your browser's search (Ctrl + F) to find the phrase

or just join the chat, ask what your looking for, and if someone of us that browses whole forum is there we will answer you with a link =) atleast i will

Can't search an entire thread. And to bring up an example, the Instancebuddy thread had around 100 pages... I don't want to have to go through all of it.. But for the smaller threads, that what I do as well..
