I know I have seen this stated a few times in threads before. However I felt it was time this issue got a serious thread started and finally got some attention. First let me start by saying that I love the bot and I love all the effort you guys put into it and I in no way shape or form intend this to be a bashing on the devs thread. I have had HB for nearly 2 years now (it will be in 2 in July) and i have loved watching the bot progress and become a "Does-It-All" bot. I have written numerous questing profiles for myself, released some gathering and rep profiles to the community, and overall have become very interactive and attached to this bot.
However, I noticed a while back a few things start to slip and its one of the most important things in botting to not have happen. I'm talking about THE NAVIGATION. Back when I started using HB there weren't as many features and everything was really basic but the navigation logic worked pretty well. Then The Shattering and Cata hit and it messed things up for a bit but not so overly long that it ruined the botting experience. The few releases immediately following the Cata expansion I remember thinking "WOW this is awesome watching it navigate around things properly and amazingly. If it falls off cliffs or balconies it finds its way back up. This is awesome!" The navigation was absolutely amazing in these releases. If it was running up a spiral staircase it would find its way back up. If it was stuck on the corner of a building for more than 3 or so seconds it would do an unstuck maneuver and then move to a slightly different spot from a different angle and it ACTUALLY WORKED. The unstuck behavior now absolutely sucks and i watch him "unstuck" time after time to end up starting and ending his maneuver in the same spot. I then proceeded to watch a toon fall off of the second story in Booty Bay to the bottom level and simply run into the side of a building trying to get back up top. Not that it was trying to navigate into the building for a ramp up or anything it just simply thought it was still up top and was trying to run a path (that should have been clear had he been on the 2nd level) for a level of the city he was not on. The navigation in the last few releases has just gone to total crap and i cant afk for more than an hour without coming back to see 1 of my 3 bots stuck somewhere (keep in mind this is usually in questing/grinding or rep prefiles etc etc. not necessarily GB2). This is a huge red flag to passers by and one of the most important and basic parts of the bot.
I know that the devs have a lot to work on in this hugely dynamic bot. I also know that you have SWTOR on your hands. BUT, and this is a big but, Navigation issues can be one of the biggest ways to red flag a bot. A bot stuck on the same corner backing up and running into it time after time (especially in places like the above mentioned Booty Bay where there is high traffic) makes people go hmmmm well thats not a real player no person on earth could be that dumb to keep running into that corner and not get passed. Also lets throw the whole detection thing out the window a second. But isnt the basis of a bot that it can run around for you and do things while you actually arfe not? Doesn't that base its entire concept on the design of unattended movement? The navigation of this bot can be AND at one point HAS BEEN great. I think that the devs need to sit down and take some time to fix this issue and fix nothing but this issue in a release. I respect all the work of the new botbases, the work of all the other minor fixes every release and i simply respect your work but the most important fix right now is movement. I have seen people complain alot about it in BG's too and that may be another issue all together. No matter how you look at it movement is and navigation is a huge issue in this bot at the moment and it needs to finally be addressed. And I know that SWTOR is taking time. But lets face facts. SWTOR already has a declining player base while wow is still at near peak numbers. Wow is still going to be your primary bot and is going to be the one that deserves work done before releasing a new bot for a declining game and base.
Thank you devs for your time and consideration to the community needs and desires. This is again something i feel the community would like to see done. This thread was intended on spotlighting that so you can see it.
Thank you fellow botters and readers for your patience and/or support on this topic.
