can someone translate the "caught by gm" ban post?

Hello Zookia, im GM x i have to speak with you
GM: everything fine?
Player: yep
GM: nice to hear
GM: Can you tell me where you where in the last 5 minutes?
Player: In Suramar
GM: Where exactly?
Player: I collected roses. But i think you have better informations then me? right?
GM: yep, thats correct.
GM: Know im banning your account for 6 month
GM: Because o third party software
Player: Thats fine. Its your job. you did a good job
GM: Yep, i know
GM: Its nice that you didnt decline my investigation. Thank you.
Player: Why i should. its unfair.
GM: Thank you for the nice chat. I wish you a good day.

I'm suprised gm's even bother to whisper ingame anymore - usually it's just ban first, ask questions later.

thank you for translating that :)

and it sounded like he was just being smug. He already intended to ban either way so what was the point?

cause they are sitting on evidence, possible recordings, that shows botlike behaviour? stuck in a tree, combat routines arguing against botbase, stuff like that? If ur caught u might aswell hand in the cards, cause that will make it easier for you if you later have to contact them.

Not surprising of this kind of GM interaction. It was common in vanilla and post x-packs with Glider and Pirox. You'd have GM's message people. I had one or two, always instantly responded and never got banned from it. I think today it's quite easy for them to tell, with the sharp click-to-move movements

Wow,

I have to say- if I didn't see the screen shot I would have called BS..

what a odd thing to do..

My bans happen with me waking up to a account closure message. have a nice day.

Wait Glider didn't use click-to-move?

Please dont turn this into a click to move debate...

CTM has been responsible for -0/1% of bans.. Software/injection detection has been responsible for the last 4 banwaves.

For mass-bans sure. For player reported bans, it's not likely that other plays can tell what injections you have into your WoW process. Therefore, if player reports lead to bans, I think it's pretty certain that the statistic of 0/1% bans is very underestimated. Even more so as bans occur inbetween ban waves.

Anyway yes, lets not debate CTM.

Also I use click to move in regular play so I doubt it would even get triggered in any form

Basically this.

Players aren't dumb anymore. Botting went mainstream for a good while there, and most players now know how to spot a bot from a mile away.

Beforehand only other botters really knew bot behavior, but that's no longer the case.

There is no point to discuss CTM at all.

GMs are human like are and they are not dumb like we are not too!

On first place, most of botters are not professional botters, but GM's profession is to witness and consider accounts and characters. He have tons of procedures to follow, has passed tons of tests and probably have quite a solid experience witnessing accounts (maybe more than most of us O_o! ).

So it is pathetic to think we could foul a real GM, witnessing our account, that we are not botting with AFK botbase, which handle bot movement.

Yes we can assume (theoretically) that it is possible to foul them if we do rotations only, but only theoretically, because neither of us have been in GM's shoes, even for a minute (yes, some of us could have been Customer support for other MMO games, but its WoW here, and WoW is different than any other online game, indeed!)

Thats why the confess in this case is nothing bad, the botter can receive my admiration only, for having balls!

Botting has also somehow become more obvious. I run across bots all the time while questing, and they're always stuck trying to run against something. Perfect example is the rock guy's cage near the Witchwood flight path in Highmountain. CTM tries to get around it, but it just ends up running back and forth along the side of the cage, occasionally jumping, backing up and then continuing to run into it.

The geniuses farming Starlight Rose on Sky Golems that are constantly stuck on trees, logs and low branches is another example. I don't know what causes it, but 'stuck running in place' is the regular subject of zone-wide chats lately.

I never get stuck on my Sky Golem with my own profile. Just a profile issue.

Can confirm this.

Friend was botting on his DK and the bot kept casting the ground spell exactly on the middle of the mob, someone in raid noticed and wrote in the chat that it was a combat routine.

If it was another botter or someone savvy, I will never know, but that scared the shit out of me because now that I think about it, it is indeed very obvious, same with efflorescence on druids and other ground spells... :/

I think the movement method in HB3 is better than it was in HB2. It has smoothed out more which is really nice but the only thing I haven't seen a difference in is bot training. The new movement system that communicates with a central server doesn't always seem to move me away from other botters..
