Say I get banned.

I play from 2 IP addresses, one at my house, one at my friends house. I play from these 2 IPs pretty regular.

I also have an authenticator which protects my account.

Can I really claim to have been hacked, or to have not been playing for the last month when I play from the same IP addresses and have an authenticator?

I've not been banned, just thinking about things and I see a lot of people advise "Just say you got hacked", but with an authenticator and a consistent login from only 2 addresses, it does not look like I've been hacked?

Thanks
Jez

That's why they also suggest using a *** or IP masker and not using an authenticator. Authenticators are for your main legit account.

I actually had my main account banned for "abuse of the economy" - I called Blizzard and asked what was up (I don't bot on my main account at all, so I knew this wasn't a botting report/ban because the botting account was still active). I had just started using "Pingzapper" to reduce the ms I've had since the patch came out, and this had caused my IP address to bounce around a lot.

Regardless, if you get banned, your best bet is to call Blizzard and be *nice* (this is what happened:)

Me: "Hey, I'm a little confused, I seen in my email I had a ban for abuse of the economy and wanted to question it. I do play the AH a little, but usually sell potions etc I make from my professions, and list only about 20 auctions a day"
Blizz: "Ok, let me have a look here. Ah I see, you were automatically banned by our system because it had detected that you had recently changed your password and had been logging onto different IP addresses. Basically your account has most likely being hacked and we shut it down immediately to prevent any further damage to your account"
Me: "Hacked? Really? Oh my god... is my account alright? Do you know if anything is missing?"
Blizz: "I can't see that for myself, but here is what we'll do. I'll do a password reset right now for you, but I suggest that you go to our website and look up the "I've been hacked" section and follow those steps. Also change the password of your email because they most likely have hacked your email as well"
Me: "My email? But how? I can still log onto my email though?"
Blizz: "Most hackers have a program that will hack your Battle.net account and your email account within seconds and give them full access to everything"
Me: "Oh my god... I don't really know what to say. I don't want to loose my account"
Blizz: "That's completely understandable, I have to say you are being really calm about this"
Me: "Well... I'm more lost for words, and you're giving me sound advice, I just hope I can get my account back. I'm a little attached to those pixels..."
Blizz: "Understandable! I had this happen to me once and I have to say, I was no where near as patient and nice as you, thank you for being understanding. Anyway, your password has being reset, so please make sure you go to the battle.net page and lodge a ticket and a GM will go through your account and unlock it for you"
Me: "Thank you so much!"

Ticket was answered and my account unbanned. Being nice can pay off - if you call up and get stuck up them, you'll instantly have them on the wrong side and they won't really feel like helping you out.
