Building cheap botting pc

Hey, I'm building a cheap botting pc to run 5 copies of wow (possibly more in the future), I've bought a cheap old pc from ebay with a P4 3Ghz cpu, I plan on upgrading the ram to about 2 gigs and buying a new video card (PCI-e).

What do you guys think is an appropriate video card? I was thinking a HD 4350 would do, what do you guys think?

Only 2GB Ram? That's kinda low since you're planning to run multiple instances of WoW. Go for 4GB atleast.
AMD/ATI 4xxx-series might do the trick if you're on a really tight budget. Imo I would go for one of the cheaper cards in the 5xxx-series or a cheap Nvidia GTX 460.

The HD5670 performs alot better and isn't that expensive, well, it costs a few bucks to double, but yeah, generally it's not a expensive card in comparison how it performs.

If you're going to add more accounts later on, then get a quad core!

And yea... putting a "good" botting rig together might cost ya a little more than you thought =p

buy a Club3d HD5550 with 64bit interface pay 40-50 bucks and run up to 10 wows on there

I would go AMD and then overclock, simply because it's cheaper and really not that much difference. Unless you buy a intel with hyperthreading.

Quad: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Black Edition

Although Intel has a slight edge if you for example work with alot of video effects, rendering and such.

Win 7 64-bit if you have more than 2GB RAM.

Just get a Quad AMD , they're cheaper than intel's and almost as good if not the same

well I ran 12 accts on a duo core 2.0 amd just fine (70% cpu) -- granted most were GB and not HB, as HB uses a lot more cpu power imo

my standard pc is x2 5600+ and 2GB ram and barely can handle 3-4

My botting pc is i5 760, 4GB ram and a ATI HD 5550 and handles 6 without passing 45% cpu load

A cheap AMD quad core is like $100 or something and worth every penny. I upgraded from a core2duo/2gb ram to quad core/8gb and I have no idea how many bots I could run but more than I've tried while playing other games at the same time. core2duo/2gb would cap out at 4, but 2 were HB. granted that was mostly a ram issue, but CPU usage was uncomfortably high.

One thing you definetly need quite a bit of is memory. I'd recommend 6gb or more for 5 instances.

Ok guys I've read your suggestions and I think ill just trash the little PC I've got in favor of something with more grunt.

Heres what I've got my eye on:

Mobo - ASUS P5QPL-VM (socket 775)
CPU - Intel Pentium E6500 2.93Ghz
RAM - 4GB of DDR2 800
Video Card - Unsure, probably a HD 4650/70 or something

My botting computer has an Intel core duo E5200 processor, 4gigs of ram (kingston 800mhz) in dual chan configuration, win 7 pro 64bit, an ATI HD 3850 1gb ram and the motherboards is a FoxConn g33m02 pulled out from a Dell Vostro 400 (very crappy imo).
I manage to run 5 GB bots and 1 hb bot with about 80% cpu use (HB requires more cpu time).
I always use this computer remotely, through Tightvnc or Logmein (both require some cpu time aswell).

I bought the CPU+cooler, motherboard, video card, power supply and 2 gigs of ram (I added some more after a few weeks) for 170€ (ofcourse they all were used) about 2 months ago. Compared to market prices in Italy, it was a fair good price.

If you want to save money just buy an used computer. DON'T save on motherboard and power supply, here's my story:

After some weeks a capacitor into the power supply just exploded (power supply is crappy), and i had to replace it, and the fan was making a lot of noise and i had to replace it aswell. I wanted to add some ram,so i took two no-brand ram with elpida chips, but my (crappy) motherboard didn't like them, so I had to send them back and get a better brand (it costed me time, money and a lot of swears).

PS: I use this computer just to bot!
