Hi mate, first time use for me for the bot. Anwho I has the same issue as you, I just solved it so I'm sharing.
What did it for me was installing the actual version of visual c++ that the main req post wants you to get:
Visual c++ 2012 UPDATE 3 <- i was installing update 4 and I had crashed at the start just like you.
Requirements post says update 3 but redirs you to update 4.

Just google for the right update number, I found it at this bullshit site:
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 3 - Software Informer. It is a package that installs runtime components of Visual C++ libraries.

Thanks for sharing. Microsoft tends to do that with their links, redirecting to the latest version, but the Update 4 should work as well, so that's odd.
