you do not need to do the whole list again.... just copy the "settings" folder from your old DB folder into the new installed DB folder, replace everything during copy process and you are doing fine...
on every new DB version is just copy my old settings folder to the new directory, overwriting the new settings folder. itemlist always stays the way i configuered it in first place and all other settings stay the same. all in all i have a separate settings folder for every class that is just rename when i start botting with another class.
main folder is "Settings" (for the active char you are playing). I have different folders named like "settingsCrus" "settingsWiz" and so on. whenever i start botting a different class i just rename the current "Settings" folder to like "SettingsWitchdoctor" and rename the desired folder (like "settingsCrus") to "Settings". that way i have configuered completely different settings for every class.
