We all know the typical "If you don't want to risk losing your account, then don't bot" line. I sometimes say it to other people who complain too, but on a serious note, how long do you guys run the bot for and what do you have it do? Is overnighting safe for this game (enough to not see me with a guaranteed ban when I wake up)? What should I avoid botting for long periods of time or overnighting?

Back before when Runescape's Evolution of Combat came out, I used to be able to bot overnight every day 24/7 and making money and leveling so easy like that and in some hot spots too, but now if I even try to bot, I'd be lucky to live another day if I bot hard due to the new detection system. Puzzle Pirates is another game that I used to bot. Botting overnight was a guaranteed ban in that game. But if you were to babysit and only bot when you were actually there sorta, you'd be safe.
 
Depends, some people have luck and others don't, I have a huge bot farm and don't have any bans or warnings, most of which I leave running 24/7 doing gathering/farming/fates/etc anything really, of course I know that they will get hit soon enough maybe, they are a year strong or a bit more. Run the profile or such during the day and see if it runs into any issues, if it does, don't AFK farm it, if it works perfectly, go ahead and AFK it over night. Avoid popular areas and you will be solid, I also suggest logging your bots out 1-2 hours before a maintenance or patch, use real character names and don't stick them in crafted gear(aside from gathering/crafting/etc), change the zones and locations up and should be solid.
 
A year of 24/7? That's insane. People encountering you? Bot issues? Computer issues?

Thanks for your information!! Do you think you could shed some light on what your technique for your bot farm is? VMs? All on 1 IP? How many are you doing? Are you crazy? That's a lot of money to pay monthly isn't it? Lol. Ahhhhh!

Botting is my hobby, some people buy games a lot or books, cars, etc, I happen to do botting. Am I crazy? Maybe a little but enough to be fun lol. I run them all on a single IP, SE doesn't have a track record of banning by association, I run 4 to 8 bots per computer so I have a few computers to handle the load. I use a combo of profiles(I have private profiles I use for myself, but I tend to make public versions and release them here, can check out my Mega thread in my signature) The bots run near 24/7 yea, only down time is really if im in the middle of clearing their bags and I go afk for food and etc, or maintaince/patches, computer failures, bot failures etc.

Regarding that quote, it really means if the profile is 100% AFK or not, if it gets you stuck here or there, you die here or there, etc its prob not a great idea to AFK it while you sleep, but if you don't have those issues, you can run it pretty safely assuming you have plugins like Agil to handle repairing your gear for you and such.
 
I have been running it at least 12 hours a day for the past 2 months with no warnings (usually 24/7). I believe most of the warnings are issued by public complaints and screen shots. Use profiles that will take you to different areas, don't run one profile in one area for a week straight. Diversify your profile portfolio and I doubt you would have any issues. That being said you still could have someone who is bored follow you around and try to screw you over, but the key is always to draw as little attention to yourself as possible.
 
Thanks. I'm feeling very excited or happy or (better word choice) about this for us. Seems like this game doesn't have bot detection it looks like I'm assuming. I'm going to give it a go. I already did it overnight and started in the afternoon, but I won't blame you guys if I get banned. No reason to.. Lol. Finally another game I can for the most part relax in hehe :P (of course still have to learn the game)
 
Glad to hear it! I suggest making it a priority to get to main scenario quest 20 to unlock your chocobo mount, at level 30 unlock your chocobo companion who can heal you while you bot, and to gather all the Atheryte Crystals (this allows teleporting between areas). A lot of the profiles will teleport you to places then start the profile so if you do not have the Crystals unlocked it just won't work. If you haven't already checked out my thread it might have some information that would help you out.

Already got all that done! (: Still missing some high level crystals. Pretty sure. Been using your thread since day 1 also.

Good to hear, I update it regularly. I just added kagepanda's Mega Gathering Thread to it yesterday. It can do botany or mining levels 1-50 plus all the quests, and he has custom profiles for farming to make some gil.
 
Just got back into the game after a long while.

Used to bot all day everyday. No stopping.

Now still botting all day everyday. No stopping.
 
I have friends who have been botting everyday for 1 year+. They haven't been banned. They also do final coil, though I'm not sure if they use routines for their rotations.
 
Dang. Crazy. I've been botting all day every day recently too and seems to be fine. Looks like this is the Runescape era again for me! :D Thanks for the responses!
 
From what I can tell, it seems like SE doesn't really care unless you're paying your subscription. Losing subs = money lost, it seems they're only concerned with RMT + botting.
 
Like ive said before SE really doesn't care unless your involved with RMT, and even then your prob decently safe if your not spamming and crap. I recently just took down my 32 man bot farm(have more then anything I will ever need) and before I took them down none of them ever got a warning or a ban.

32 Seems like a lot. I'm not even sure if it's still fun to bot at that rate. Too much work D:

It provided its uses lol, got all my ponies, etc, anything requiring 4-8 mans I did by myself, was work it, and ya it wasnt "fun" per say, more stress then anything.

Something I can only dream of doing... One day I'll retire or get rich and can justify building a bot hoard. :D

Maybe that'll be my midlife crisis. :p
 
Most I've ever ran was 40 League of Legends RAF bots :P It was alright, but the RP was soo awesome!
 
Botting for me can get crazy, 10x more so when they game its self is free to play.
 
I have another question and I don't want to start a whole new thread for it since I feel we are sorta on the topic still.

If I were to launch 2 copies of FFXIV and use Reborn buddy for both of them for different tasks, how would RB know which game to attach itself to if there's no PID selector or any way to hook specific clients that I can see.
FFXIV A = RB A (combat)
FFXIV B = RB B (crafting)
