So, what would happen if all botters united and started to raise the price of gold and items that they found? would it hurt/help the D3 economy? would it help us botters make more money? Botters make a huge % of D3 players and have the potential to control a massive part of the D3 economy,if we pull together. What are your thoughts?

That is a very big If, you must realize the db forum is a very small part of the botting community. People that invest time and money into private bots usually will not just bot 10, 100, or 1000 accounts. They truely invest in this as a large business opportunity. Convincing the DB forum would only go so far, in order to raise gold prices blizzard would need to implement more ways to drain gold From the economy and reduce drop rates once again by a fraction. If the entire db forum, the sneeky ones who never post, the ones who bot hundreds of accounts, everyone got together and collaborated to improve gold prices, we would just be giving the benefit to the "Chinese" gold farmers.

This is where you are dead wrong and even if it actually did happen it wouldn't accomplish anything.

Their would still be the same amount of buyers, so only a small percentage of gold at the inflated price would ever sell.

Edit: Here's is a decent video that explains everything in 5 minutes if you never took an econ class. An Introduction to supply and demand - YouTube

lol at 5 threads everyday on the same stupid suggestion. you realize that we're mostly less than 2% and the chinese dont give a fuck about your union crap

yea, it wont happen. lone wolf tactics, thats what its all about.

yep its everyman for himself. And let me add that your all assholes and friendship to me means that for 2 bucks I'll beat you all with a pool cue till you got detached retinas

There is only one thing funnier/stupider than all these people who think that if us demonbuddy users colluded to raise the price of gold we could do so; and that is the people here who try to apply basic real life economics arguments as to why it doesn't work. This is not the real world and whilst generally speaking the same principals apply it is not the same! We have 1 tool/market for selling gold here (the AH) and when you go to sell it it tells you to sell it at a price below current market value. By default the system makes people undercut each other and thus the system creates an under inflated price by default. In the real world a regular retail price is calculated and from there on supply and demand effect that price. Here we have supply and demand effecting the price but the real issue is with the fact that we have a real time model the monitors the price and instead of having a small bunch of sellers supplying the market there are literally hundreds of thousands of people within a short space of time that wish to sell. Because of human greed and the desire to sell fast coupled with the fact that the AH tells you what price it is currently selling for and suggesting you undercut that we have a system the perpetually destroys any correct value of gold that could ever be calculated. I GUARANTEE you (id bet serious amounts of real money) that if the AH did not tell you the price to sell it at when you clicked on your gold the price would not be as low as it is now and it would have a chance to not get to .25 per mill. The high supply coupled with the low demand would eventually mean it would it .25 but no where near as fast as it has done to date.

The only way we could raise the price of gold is if ALL botters agreed to stop undercutting and set at a specific price. Thing is we are probably only a very small % of the botting population and thus any effort we make would make in all likelihood would do absolutely nothing.

You at least have to give the guy credit for his enthusiasm... but that gets negated by his lack searching to see if there was 10 of these threads posted last week :p

Actually I think the only way this could work is if we could "unite" at least 80-90% of botting comunities to agree upon a set price, and at least 70-80% of major gold-selling websites (that actually get affected by AH, but in my belief also affects it as well) to agree upon a set % lower than AH value... That includes many, MANY chinese / korean / thai companies (read it well, COMPANIES, not individuals) cooperating, even though they ARE "enemies", and most of the "lone wolves" who do it in a semi-professional way (up to 100ish bots) to do it as well.... IMO that?s a HECK of a lot of work, to TRY and raise the price of gold to PERHAPS between .60 and 1$, whilst making it slower to sell, and with no garantee that it would actually work. To large companies, that means simply STOPPING their businesses from running smoothly, which is if not 100% not viable, at least somewhat impractical, for they?d be risking the very income on which their businesses depend on (and they do that for a living! their not occasional botters...).

So, to put it simply: IF there started a BIG movement towards this, IF companies agreed upon it all, IF most botting communities agreed as well, IF big lone wolves agreed too, I would be willing to give it a go too. But, IMO, thats one too many IF?s, and VERY BIG IF?s, as well... So I don?t think that?s actually going to happen. Ever.

And IF this wasn't the dumbest idea in the world only IF it wasn't then MAYBE it could happen.

That too. Lol. I just don?t like to be too harsh on the comments. Goes with keeping a nice atmosphere and not starting flame wars. :o

As with any other market, can't compete with the Chinese. Won't work.

Well what OP is suggesting isn't nonsense if it's limited to a general educational purpose, that sellers should be patient and not to panic sell, it's fine.

The arguments from market S/D guys are true according to economics 101, but what OP is suggesting is to form a cartel to control price that is to distort the market, if successful, works, also true according to economics 101.

The problem for OP is it's impossible to form a cartel here. There are many many many sellers, botters or otherwise. There's no way of uniting them all, no way of specifying a price, no way of even detecting who's secretly cheating by lowering price not to mention punish and prevent cheating. And it takes just a few of the sellers to break the whole deal.

On classic WOW i explored Kharazan before it was an instance (it was some sort of cave with level 60 ghosts with no quests related to that place so almost nobody knew it
The guy had 3 hunters there 24/7 with stupid character names that only a chinese could use (names like Coolwater)... i always went and killed and ress-killed his bots. He always tried to fight back playing one after the other, it was funny having 3 pets attacking you, 1 hunter shooting and the others standing afk.

The guy never changed farming spot for weeks. He didnt give a fuck.
I can tell similar stories of other farming spots.

If they dont care even being attacked, imagine when they have a safe game only for them.

Our money might have like triple value for them... Nooo, i assure you they wont stop

I dont think chinese botters are the kind of people on a bad economic situation. Its not a guy with a computer and 2 bots, its more like one or two guys running a gold selling site with many many computers
