Botters reporting other botters

So, this morning I wake up to find out some one had /w me saying they had reported me for botting, which is fair enough.

However, I then proceeded to check this person out on wowprogress to find they are ilvl 812 with 800 herbalism and 492 mining. So I think to myself that looks an awful lot like a bot to be honest due to the gear/ilvl and the professions it has. Further investigation shows that the moronic person is also a bot after waiting around for 10 minutes in the area they were in after doing a /who.

So I thought I would go a little further and the person has this bot connected on the same battle.net as their main because I managed to link up the achievements perfectly. I don't think they are using HB but thats besides the point since we are all botters regardless of what software we use.

What made this so different comapred to the normal /w of reported. This guy went to extra lengths to tell me how he hated me and how I was ruining the game etc etc. How he is going to write manual reports to make sure I am banned.

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

I am in two minds whether to /w his main and politely point out I can easily report him and his main with a manual ticket to a GM since he has so kindly got them on the same battle.net. I wouldn't ever reported some one else who bots because its petty and attracts unwanted attention. I just cant find it in me to let it go that he is /w other botters and giving us grief.

Reporting others increases your profit margin. This is why people do it, and for no other reason. People are just greedy shits really.

Hahaha, you should fucking WRECK his main. On some farms, i would mine the same nod with 2 other players, and we were all in peace, even though both of them were opposing faction to me. Other times, all of us botting in same area would joke around in whisper. So this is a major douche, he could have just reported you silently and leave it be, but for that kind of whisper and being a botter himself, damn. The tears of him losing his main would be priceless.

I agree, but play with him a while, let him sweat it out. Anyone willing to be that nasty and letting you know they know what you're doing, definitely means they're doing the same thing and will be 1,000% butthurt. He may came after you again though, so up to you.

:DISCLAIMER:
Not encouraging you to report him, but if he wants to try to intimidate you, let him know you know who his main is...

He just made it too easy to find his main.

Saw he had done Mythic Chronomatic anomaly as an achievement on the bot account three days ago but obviously the bot hadn't done it so he must have had a main somewhere. So checked the guilds on that server that had killed it three days ago and the characters that had the same amount of achievement points in that guild. Then the achievements all lined up from there on wow armory.

I am going to wait and see if I get any more /w from him then land the bombshell that I know who his main is if he continues.

Keep in mind that reporting other botters, or even encouraging others to report botters is against forum policies and is an instant ban from these forums.

Tread very carefully with this conversation. The people that have encouraged him to "wreck" his main shouldn't expect to have their forum accounts much longer.

this happens every day. its the reason ive been banned several times. no honor among botters... :P
but Blizzard are aware of this and often check the reporters aswell.

Very lame to be reported by another botter.

He's kinda an idiot tho. I mean, he's sending all this info to [email protected]?
So, a GM is going to manually investigate. Spending at least 5 minutes.
If they are taking the time to read this guys report, they might just take the extra 30 seconds to glance at his activity before getting to yours.

Oh well, sorry for that. I've received my share of "threats" or "wtf are u doing" whispers. I just /ignore and move on.

Correct.

Blue posters have mentioned more than once, that they are aware of that practice, so when report is received, Game masters check both the reporter and the reported for suspicious activity.

I don't even know how they can take the reports seriously. You could be just any dickhead reporting some for botting for lols or whatever.

Obviously they are not, most cases it takes more than 1 report to get investigated and in some time frame.
Example: If you get 10 reports in a single BG you might as say BB to the account.
If you get 10 reports for the whole year you are safe.

Tell me some news :-D Got reportet for botting in PVP by a Mage who pulled me out of camou and put me in cc chain while fuckin me with combustion XD and after that disturbin shit he messeged me that he reported me... someone just wants to see the world burn.

I have seen plenty of botters, even if they farm my are is doesn't bother me and in fact I think it's kinda cool to see a fellow botter. there are so many other things to farm and do with a bot I always end up finding something else to farm etc. The people who report fellow botters are the same ones who rage in online games.

This one time this dude whispered me telling me to configure my bot correctly cause the bot was trying to run trough a wall. I thought it was nice.

Depends on the nature of the report

If you are referring to the Right-Click-Report function, yes, that takes many more than 1 report. The process is mostly automated and therefore not that great

If you are referring to a lengthy manual report sent directly to [email protected]. They will manually investigate.

I can assure you that after the whole lifetime key fiasco and then the ban wave immediately following that there are those with new accounts, going straight, who know all the chokepoints for leveling via honorbuddy and the ways to identify honorbuddy users and are doing their best to pull the entire corrupt temple down on their heads.

Now is the most dangerous time to use Honorbuddy in the entirety of botting history.
