Restart your computer. When that happens to me it's because I already had demonbuddy open and it closed with an error. I think it says this message as if it is still open in the background on your computer. It's a pain but I always restart my pc and it opens back up fine.

You dont have to restart your PC. When DB crashes, it takes awhile for the auth servers to know you crashed. You can manually kill any sessions that are running by logging onto https://www.buddyauth.com/

Just sign in, and kill the process. This will allow you to log back instantly.
