Blue screen, recurring problem.

Ok so this has been happening quite a lot recently, and is causing me to be unable to bot. I searched this, however the only suggestions were "Buy more RAM" and "Update your drivers". This morning I have opened World of Warcraft, attached a GB2 bot, and it was running for around 2 hours whilst I was doing some school work. I decided that since this seemed to be going so well, I would start another. I started a second bot, this one was starting mining, using Tony's 1-300 profile, and within 2 minutes, my screen blanks and computer makes weird noises. In order to try and solve the problem, I have completed all Windows updates (I think that includes Drivers?) And Attempted to run software to update drivers, but all ends up in costing money to download fully. I will paste the issue details below as well as my computer spec. Oh also I have been botting for about a year on and off, and have ran up to three sessions fairly easily on my computer. I also restored to factory settings in order to fix the problem, but this still didn't help.

what does the blue screen say at the top?

does it say PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

or something else?
 
Tried to check for solutions on windows but it's just disappeared. I'l see if it will do it again and answer when I restart
 
Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Under the Startup and Recovery section of the 'Advanced' tab (the section at the bottom) click -> Settings -> under the System Failure section uncheck the checkbox next to Automatically Restart.

Now if you get the Blue Screen of Death, you will have time to write down the numbers in the STOP code to do some Googling. But you will have to manually restart your computer (either by hitting the reset button if equipped, or holding the power button until it turns off, then turn it on again)
 
Didn't see that post before it happened again. There isn't actually any blue screen, just the error message after the computer restarts, however this might be because of my LG power saving monitor or whatever setting it has on it. I have disabled automatic restart so hopefully I will be able to see and write everything down this time...
 
I had the same problem this summer with blue screens and strange noises from my pc.
I couldn't find anything wrong, checked all the things the error code said.
then i opened the laptop and it was full of shit, cleaned it and its now working :P

if u wanna check ure RAM: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
run the test and if u pass its not the RAM ;)
 
Hasn't blue screened for the last half an hour or so with 2 sessions. The Memtest thing didn't go down so well, Did the one with a USB key...Don't mean to sound like a complete retard but how do I actually start it? I expect it will crash again at some point, and will post details if it does. Many thanks everyone :)
 
Do this, head to Ultimate Boot CD - Overview. Download the ISO and burn it to a disk using Imgburn. Boot using the disk and use memtest86+. Let it run over night. You are looking for 5-7 passes. If you have any fails, then you know its bad ram. If your ram checks out zero fails, try running a gpu test. Also, don't depend on windows updates to find your latest chipset drivers or graphics card drivers. Manually search those on the retailers site and update everything.

You may also want to get Coretemp Core Temp. If could be your cpu is getting too hot forcing the pc to shut off. I know its a pain in the ass, but give these a shot.
 
Good tests to run ...but the SIMPLEST way is if you have 2x2 gb sticks ..... Pull one ....reboot ( yes it will be alot slower ) run the programs you were running when it blue screened before. If it still does, then switch the 2 sticks out one for the other ... and repeat. If it doesn't blue screen....well then there you are.
 
Coretemp.webp Right I have followed this so that I can see the error and write it down, however it didn't work. The computer just sat there with a blank screen. I attempted to connect via teamviewer however this did not work, therefore eliminating a problem with the graphics card alone? I also switched monitors, and that also just jumped to power mode. I downloaded the Coretemp program and this is working, but I don't know what temp is too high? I will paste a screenshot of this? I think I'm going to guess it's the RAM? And eagles your idea seems practical, I will try that soon. I have warranty on the computer, so might phone Dell, see what they have to say.
 
You should see a temp on your taskbar. Open up both WoW's and tell me what the temp goes up to. Anything above 70c is potentially bad for the cpu. Your temp looks good right now but will go up once you get wow running.
 
It maxxed about 55c... Left the computer running memtest now, so i'm using my iPhone. I've never Overclocked, heard of it but always thought I'd do something wrong^^ I will see how the memtest goes, and take a look at that wiki page, thank you :)
 
I had the same problems like you describe here.
For me it was a RAM stick that was not working correctly
 
After all of this time putting up with it, and arguing with Dell about actually having warranty, maybe I have found a slightly more obvious solution.. (Posting this in case anyone else has the same problem)

Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7

Open Action Center by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, clicking Review your computer's status.

Click Maintenance.

So I'm just going to guess that that's the problem, and update my graphics card drivers and hope for the best...
That would explain why after it bluescreens, there is no actual blue screen, just black.
I'l write back to say if it worked..thanks everyone for the suggestions, I tried Coretemp and the memory test but got nowhere, then did some overnight diagnostics thing which showed nothing.
 
Bluescreened again. I'm currently playing one session, and botting another. Just downloaded speedfan, which is saying my GPU is hitting 100C whenever I open WoW...I'm gonna guess that that's a problem, any fix to that? How to lower my GPU temp?
 
Finally solved it. So I came to the conclusion that my GPU temp was too high (Peaking about about 105C). Today, I took my computer apart, took the graphics card out,and stuck a hoover to all of the fans I could see, paying particular attention to the one on the graphics card. My GPU temp is now stable at 58-60C whilst running 2 sessions of wow and HB. Thanks again for all of the comments posted, just thought I'd add that this is how I solved it, so that people can try this if they have similar problems. :)
