One of the heaviest damage gathering bots do to WOW is the wreckage at the economy.

Bloating the AH with tons of ores and herbs will get prices to the ground. The economy will eventually crash as prices of EVERYTHING just get so low that the casual player will hardly get any gold to repairs.

Thats the so called "abuse of the economy" that bots cause.

As an global market law, flooding market with products without supplying the economy with gold will make the prices drop. THis affects WOW economy hardly with bots gathering herbs and ore 24/7.

What has blizzard done?

They have recently "adapted" to this new bot population, and included two nes money sources:

- Mysterious Fortune Cards
- High Vendor prices for green gems

Mysterious fortune cards will simply turn herbs into gold. vendoring gems, will creat a new flux of incoming gold "from nothing"... to balance the incoming of botting stuff.

When is Blizzard going to stand up and do something about this?
We already do. Every day. We have a team dedicated to this and only this kind of work. They have some really exciting things coming down the line, but as I mentioned before, I cannot share those plans. It's an advantage we shouldn't lose in such a difficult war.

in fact we dont supply market with gold. We just sell people their own gold.... just as the youtube music "I buy your auctions, you sell my gold right back to me... Feels like youre bending me over / You smile and say..."

We just flood the market with goods, without adding any gold. That will lower all prices of course (same gold, more goods to spread gold around)

well when cataclysm applied 7th december and the first herbs got on AH,, was like 2k for a stack of twilight and then in 24h it was down to ~280g/stack then today its around 20-30g on my server. But its still gold so. Making less gold on herbs etc etc makes the gold more valueable in reallife currency, or ye, the asian companys I forgot.. well its still fun botting etc, and nowdays honorbuddy got alot great features! Blizzard probably never going to get rid of the botting problem for a long time but they succseeded good with Emulator problems..

This is wrong. It's nothing to do with "Supply and gold quantity" it's to do with "Supply and demand". Infact, flooding the market with gold is the worst thing you can do. With enough gold, everyone gets what they want and the demand is gone. High supply is fine aslong as you have high demand, and lowering gold supports it. It's highly likely that Blizzard's market is created based on the fact they are unable to completely stop botting and must adapt to that.

Blizzard have gone to many lengths to keep too much gold from the WoW economy. Engineering bike, vial of the sands, tundra mammoth, 4k gold trinkets and 20k gold rings, Harris Pilton selling stupidly overpriced items etc. They are well-known as gold sinks; a method of removing gold from an economy.

Kind of off on a tangent but I disagree with the whole idea that there is a lack of gold in the economy but exactly the opposite.

As the supply of gold increases, the value of gold decreases, which has lead to the decrease in the prices of gold, both bought and sold.

The same applies for the items we sell on the AH. The more farmers a server has, the more competition to sell those items, bring the price down.

So, you have a two fold problem. A market full or herbs/ores/whatever and an economy engorged with gold, which results in it being hard to make any money by botting these days-except for the most serious botters among us.

I don't bot for the gold or for real money. I bot because I don't have the time to play like I used to now that I have a son. When I get on to play I don't want to do a few quests then log off again. I want to be 85, get on, run a dungeon or do some PVP. When I can bot and get my PVP gear it makes it more fun for when I do have an hour to play. I don't think Blizzard should perma ban people for botting. They should be thankful we like the game enough to pay every month for it then pay more for a bot to play it for us. Kinda makes no sense.

I don't think they give a shit tbh. I think the only reason they ban botters is because if they gave it the green light, WoW would be a game world of silent farming bots lol.

All that I have is botting. its the one thing that sets me apart from mindless trade chat, people fooling themselves they are good because the gear they have is better then someone else's and they can key mash some macro bound keys... once your through all that crap the game is simple. you babysit a bot or you quit. I will babysit until they kill me. then I will quit. so as I see it. If they want my money, dont kill me. I dont even blip on their meters as a detectable threat in any way. I bot alone, I level toons and when I am done lvling toons I delete them to start the whole process over again. I dont lvl to 85 could give two shits about any in game " new content" its all the same shit with a new facelift anyway. Wow is simply I bot, bullshit around with a very small select of people and go to bed.

If this is a violation of TOS fuck them. I will take my picknic to simcity gay porn mmo or r2d2 gang bang and get the same results. the only thing that should matter to them is they get my 12 dollars or 14 dollars a month so they can pretend that they are doing somthing to keep "people like us" out of the game. Its all bullshit. we say daily dont bot what you are afraid to lose. I say bot the only thing you can lose and if its lost then you move on to home improvement or man hug adult filming.

Why do all these threads show intent of blizzard actually caring about gold and stuff? They dont. The only reason they bann bots is because the banned person will buy a new account. New acc = more money for blizzard.
They've shown how little they care about the actual ingame effect of bots.

huge economies need cheap-labour to survive, just like in the real world.. nobody wants to do the shit work, thats why there are bots in teh first place.
