hello
tonight i was banned with 3 accounts (no email got oO) but thats not the point
when you do a new account and change it from starter to battlechest, there is a new notice (ive never seen this before)
there is a [ ] hook? dont know if the english word is right... you have to check a box, where you allow blizzard to scan wow for injected/hooked/running processes into your wow client...

This isn't new. It's been there for a long time (was introduced in TBC) and Blizz have already been warned by a number of EU governments that it's illegal and if they ever enact it, they'll be sued and most likely bankrupted.

No blizzard has never, does not and will never scan memory.

why would they do this notice if they would not PLAN to do this in the future ?

edit: i talked about this with a very unfriendly support gamemaster
he said really to me (sorry my english sucks) "if you dont accept any scans feel free to quit the game :) if you want to play, you have to accept this since its written in the terms of use! so i hope you understand what i want to tell you and i hope we dont have to talk again about that topic" then he ended the live chat session without saying ciao, goodbye or anything like that

Well, they are openly stating in their bans email that they are scanning for unauthorised software, so the warning from EU government doesn't probably trouble them at all :). If it is true or not, no idea, but from my past experience I can assume that HB isn't detected or they are just letting us kids play nicely on their sandbox and from time to time ban someone just for giggles.

Scanning your memory is opening a bag of worms Blizzard wants nothing to do with.

In order to scan your memory they need direct access to your computer, which then makes the Blizzard servers a hackers paradise because they have direct access to any computer connected to the b.net network. The lawsuits that could come from this would be category 10 on the richter scale. It will never happen.

I started to think that they realy do it. Suspended for 72 hrs yesterday and I didnt used the bot for 30 days.

They snapshot the processes, not scan which is explained in there tos/faq i believe as ive read it somewhere on their pages.

Plus its in the TOS - and you can argue its illegal blah blah blah, well its not, its in the tos which youve agreed to, they can snapshot all they want whenever they want, you agreed to it.

Just the same as an antivirus scanning/snap shotting and so forth.

And to add, there is 101 posts like this on hb all stating the same thing, with people with no idea all stating its illegal blah blah

Bottom line is, dont bot if you dont want a ban.

@ GIVEMEANAME even if we agree about something, that doesn't mean that is legal.

If this is in fact the case, (seems reasonable to me) then why wouldn't hiding or renaming the process work? Shouldn't that just be a built in feature of HB

GUYS! they ONLY scan inside their own processes, and don't care what else your running.

thread closed, people spreading tons of false information and this section is for ban reports ONLY.
