Best way to check for Realm Downtimes/Maintenance?

As far as i understood Blizzard announces a maintenance timeframe very shortly (at the forums and the login-screen)
Beside the Serverstatus - Diablo III - where do YOU check upcoming maintenance events and how frequent?

As far as i remember the "longer" maintenance timeframes were once per month. only some server-restarts in between

Well this wednesday was patch 5.4 release in WoW, might have something to do with that.
