Best way to avoid a ban besides less botting...

Which is the safest way to avoid a ban? Should you use a *** and which is best? If not should you just use a virtual machine? Thanks.
 
We we knew that we would be rich by now. The only way to avoid ban is to be sensible. Dont bot for an account you are afraid of. And dont bot for more than 4-6 hours per 24 hours. Also if you are botting in a common place you should be watching over the bot like a hawk.
 
So it doesn't matter if you're using a *** or a virtual machine or not? The only thing I can think if is if you got caught botting you could repeal the ban. But wouldn't blizzard constantly reset your password if you don't use a *** with a static ip? I'm trying to hide my mac address and ip so I use *** and virtual machines--the only thing that concerns me is the constant password resets could draw suspicion.
 
I'm not really sure what you mean. Your IP has nothing to do with you getting banned. If you bot in a crowded place and you are reported with enough proof provided, you will get banned. It's that simple. It doesn't matter where you live, what your IP is or which computer you're using. They will ban your account. They do not perm ban people's IP address. And you won't get a perm the first time, regardless.
 
What about reversing a ban by disguising ip/mac address? Then after your done farming sell account to non-botter?

I still have NO idea what you are talking about? Blizzard doesn't IP-ban anyone, therefore your IP is useless. They ban accounts. Disguising your IP will not prevent your ACCOUNT from being banned. If you bot on Account1, and it gets reported for botting, they will ban it (If enough proof is attached), but they will not ban Account2 just because it's the same IP. It's against their rules because it could potentially ban innocent people. They ban by accounts.
 
What I think the person is trying to say / ask is something simple.
assuaging i am correct on what he is asking , here is my thoughts of a reply.

Ip address changeing would not prevent you from getting banned.

chances of you getting banned for botting are more slim then what people think/say. ( but it does happen)

changeing it would possibly give you a slightly higher chance of a ban appeal success.

because if they see your ip address, and then you bot useing another ip address.. you could tell blizzard that someone hacked your account and was botting and you did not know.

that would be the only benefit of ip changing.
 
Using a virtual machine or changing your IP address won't do anything, because blizzard bans your account, not your IP.
 
change ip's...maybe doesnt work, but change once or twice a day
use multiple PRIVATE (selfmade?) profiles (for example you start with jade forest, go to kun lai, townlong, another kun lai, another jade...etc and set the relogger to idle between profiles for random minutes, and 20-30+ after the last one...restart)
dont post items on AH, or keep it to minimum. find private buyers (they wont report you, cuz you will sell the mats much cheaper than AH and they like it)
CRAFT...make glyphs, and inks, prospect and craft rings/necks, disenchant...etc

change your ip while botting,
if banned appeal (with normal ip) and say you got hacked

2 diffrent ip's => this guy could have bin hacked // he botted from a diffrent ip.
 
I married Mrs. Blizzard. And as far as I know, it worked well so far.

Except, this usually results in Blizzard [proactively] locking your account if the IP addresses are geographically different: happens a lot when I log my girlfriend's account where I live, and then she logs back soon after at her place. In my experience, this is a reassuring, cool proactive security feature from Blizzard.

On topic: Blizzard have time and time again called for players to report botters: because that is the best detection system Blizzard have of finding 'us'. So really, specifically to your question, the solutions are:

  • Use Teamviewer to remotely monitor your bots when you are AFK.
  • Avoid 'grind' bots in busy areas, or at all if you are on a high pop server -use common sense.
  • Test, test, test farming profiles for blackspots until you are confident they can be left unattended. For example, I will only trust my fishing bot to run for 5 hours unattended if I have monitored it for 5 hours.
  • Auction House: avoid attention by staggering your auctions: do not sell hundreds of stacks per day, this will draw attention!
  • Use BuddyGrowl plugin or the paid-for plugins to manage or automate /whispers you may receive.
 
Yet again I will repeat what I have said before... You have to bot like a human would play I am sure a human would not play in 1 zone and farm ore for 5 hours or live on the AH for 5 hours + The averaged WoW Nerd played for 6-9 hours a day with no job. I have 10 Bots running 8 with V P N 's and Virtual boxes other 2 are my mains that I also bot on.

The real way you get banned is by giving attention too other players like ,

1. Botting in BG's for hours and doing the same shit over and over in the BG itself
2. Undercutting other players on the auction house with alot of items
3. farming ore in 1 zone for hours along with other players who are human and want a certain amount of ore but you still there stealing it.
4. Getting stuck in instances. Like hitting walls or doing some wierd shit.

Thats about it. Just watch your bot if you are scared that it will do one of these things :)
