Best way to acquire Golden Lotus for Alchemy?

So I've been farming herbs for hours and got less than ten Golden Lotus, how are you supposed to make profit when the Golden Lotus on the AH cost more than flasks themselves? Is there something I'm missing? Are there any profiles that are optimised/devoted to farming them?
 
well you can farm Spirit of Harmony and trade it for 2 Golden Lotus.. Golden Lotus are a random spawn i belive and can be in any herb location so no you cant run a profile to target them. You can also get them along with other herbs I normaly get 8 to 10 GL when i am running my gatherers in a given 4hr session or so
 
try youre gardens on halfhill, i got about 6 on each farm on my chars ;)
 
To go through the quest line to get the whole farm open, a couple of days. You need to be revered I think in order to buy the seeds for the herbs. But trust me, it's worth it. I always get at least 1 per 8 i plant every day. The seeds take 1 day to grow. Also, fly around the daily area in Valley of the Four Winds (up on the mountain to the west). You get a shit ton of green tea leaf, but you find the occasional golden lotus by itself, and the tea leaves also drop lotus as well. I've gotten most of my lotus from the farm though. Get a farm built for all your 90s and you will bank in the lotus.
 
FYI there is a cross-realm bug with the farm right now as well that lets you click to harvest a plant and then accept a cross-realm transfer and you get the plant but it doesn't disappear from your garden.

Basically you have someone cross-realm invite you and have the accept box up, click the plant to harvest and then while it is harvesting the plant (be quick) click accept. You will transfer to the new realm (stuff will fade out and back in) and if you did it right you get the golden lotus/other plant you were harvesting and it stays in your garden to do it over again...

I actually made statistics there are good days and bad days, but with 30+ chars for few weeks average is 5.1 lotus per 16 farm slots/day definitely best way to farm them

First farm takes a lot because of amount of tilers rep needed few days i would say ( 30 minutes each day)

farm on second char can be unlocked (all 16 slots) same day when you hit 90, or maybe next day if you are unlucky (100% rep bonus plus 720 rep per dungeon* if your human in guild) you need about 3 hours for that

note: you can earn tilers rep from dungeon from level 15 you just need to port somehow to tilers marketplace and talk with tilers quartermaster on level 1

note: you get rep only for first dungeon each day but its per tier so you can get same day 720 rep for BC normal, than 720 rep for BC heroic than 720 rep for LK normal, LK HC, LK HC forge of souls random (3 additional LK HC dungeons added later into expansion) and so on so you can hit friendly even before you come to valey of four winds


for gathering lotuses each day 2 min if you do it optimally 4 min if you do it relaxed for farm with 16 slots
 
Thanks for the tips guys, really helpful.

It's kind of annoying though that this plays right into the hands of multi-boxers or people with many/multiple accounts. Maybe this is Blizzard's strategy for getting more money out of people who want to make big gold lol.

I wonder if the best way for someone with less characters to farm with would be to make a deal with someone that farms them in large amounts, are there any places on the net I can make a deal with botters? I don't really want to spam trade chat all day
