Best class composition for a 5 man bot team

Hi all,

Was hoping to start a discussion regarding what peoples opinions/strategies are for a 5 man bot team, specifically what classes and spec should be used. The focus should be on dungeons, though world quests, MoP/WoD raiding for mounts and transmog should also be a consideration.

Whilst dungeon support for legion is currently limited, with how Artifact Knowledge and the gearing process works, i'd like to make a start now on getting toons pre-geared. Considerable time investment is required to get the third relic slot per toon, so i want to be as time efficient as possible. One of my goals i wish to achieve is to be able to do all Mythic dungeons (normal mythic) as the 5 man team.

I personally already have a Blood DK (ilvl 669) Arms Warrior (ilvl 662), and Holy Paladin (just dinged 110) on 3 seperate WoW accounts. I like the idea of a plate team (gear sharing) and have always enjoyed and had more fun playing melee classes..., but i feel ranged classes for the 2 remaining dps slots are probably best? A heroism would be very nice to have (Mage/Shaman). Both classes would be appealing as i believe Fire Mage dps is pretty strong currently, and Shamans also have self rez. Not sure if a Druid (boomkin) is necessary for a second battle rez, possibly good incase the Blood DK dies. I'm sort of leaning towards Mage+Druid, though there's no gear sharing potential in this.

Ignoring my own 3 current toons, i'm thinking the following could be a decent group comp:
1 x Blood DK (Solid Tank, Battle Rez, Death Grip)
1 x Resto Druid (Solid Healer, Battle Rez, good with mobility healing)
1 x Fire Mage (Solid DPS, Timewarp)
1 x Warlock (Range DPS + Soulstone)
1 x Shadow Priest (Solid DPS and rounds out the cloth classes which would be good for gear sharing)

Curious to hear peoples opinions on best group comp aswell as get some advice on what i should do with my current party setup?

Well, if i can give you a tip. Try not to use to many clothies. Retri/rogue/monk/warrior are also solid dps and good survivability!

Do you really need the heroism? I doubt the 1 minute you save on hero or the 2 wipes from the clothies haha.

Hope you do something with this info! GL

I appreciate the reply. In your opinion though is all melee a problem? I actually prefer playing (manually) melee classes, but i kind of figured at least mixing it up with be easier on a bot healer?

Also keep in mind the loot factor. Having similar armor wearers will allow for trading of gear between the toons. In your first example you have 1 plate, 1 leather, 3 cloth.

The optimal team from a speed standpoint for me would be:

Prot Warrior
Holy pally with a good dps setup
3x MM or BM hunters

If you're planning to afk, you aren't really going to be around to trade gear and whatnot, so 5 of the same team isn't really worth it.

A 5x druid team could be interesting...

Haven't gave it a lot of thought, but I would choose of of the following:

Blood dk for mass pull and self healing / Druid tank for AOE dps, self heals and CR / Warrior burst aoe dps, stun and defensive cooldowns.
Resto shaman / Resto druid / holy paladin
Mage / Hunter / DH / Warrior / Monk.

I would choose the classes which works best with singular, I don't know which ones that are at the moment.

3 hunters, prot warri, disc priest - in WoD this was my best team. I have tried 5 man druid teams but they are not really efficient.

Never played Disc... i heard that Legion brought some pretty big changes to them. From a automated (bot) point of view, would they still be a viable choice now in Legion? If anything id have thought the safer option would be to use a "pure" healing spec (ie. Holy priest).

I've got a Holy Paladin currently, only had it a few days now and i'm not sure how i feel about it. For 5 man content i may be better using a different class. I'm pretty new to healing in general, but i get the feeling Paladin strengths lay in single target tank healing rather than 5 man healing. For someone actually piloting the class manually, it wouldn't be a problem, but i'm not sure its the best choice from a bot perspective.
I'm considering leveling a different healer now before i invest too much more time into the class.

to be honest i am not sure, i have never played with priest lol. The only class i have played by hand was a rogue. I am not sure how is the disc priest now, but back in WoD disc priest was better for dungeon healing.
