Looking purely at lvl 90 heroics. I think melee classes would do better than ranged due to not having a cast time on abilities and mobs dying so quickly.

I was thinking 4x Rets or 4x DKs or maybe a mix? Looking for opinions...

Around 450 ilvl use 2 healers, so you wont die so much. at 500+ ilvl any viable Group is good. But your asking for the best setup...
Here is my opinion:
Disc priest with kingswow Simply the best Healer and do dps as well
Blood DK with singular Never die, can solo lots of bosses if the rest of Group dies
Enh Shaman with kingswow Do alot of offheals
Frost mage with kingswow Great dps
Destro Lock with Demonic. Great dps

Range is always better, because of melee's facing target takes 1-2 seconds and they stand in anything all the time..

Okay thanks for basing everything of singular, because thats what i will be using.

I have thought about this:
- Disc Priest
- Brewmaster Tank
- Ret DPS
- Frost 2h DPS
- Survival DPS

These cover a lot of physical buffs

You will have to wait to see if DB will work correctly, with 5 man groups it has problems I dont know how many but it has quite a few.

I think dungeon buddy is working perfectly for lvl 90 heroics but I could be wrong.. I know the biggest problems is that it gets confused when a dps or healer runs ahead.. but if all the dps and healers are following the tank that should never happen.

My 5 man combo for heroics would be:

Druid healer
DK Tank
2 x warlocks
hunter

You have 4 tank possibilities, high dps, battle rezzes galore.

Until ground effect avoidance is built in for melee, they will always be worse than ranged.

Why druid over disc?

amazing aoe heals and a brez.

Any healer would work just fine, that's just my preference.

If you're going to be dying a lot, which you probably will when you're first starting out, the brezzes will help.

When I tried this months ago I ran a dk tank, disc heals, hunter, mage, and pally.
The pally would stand in stuff a lot, and the range would sometimes get locked out of the room.

Personally i lvled 1 war tank (DK is better, but couldn't take one because I begin at lvl1), 1 rdrood because most of his abilities are instant, and 3 hunters ranged dps (no distance problem, they were always near the tank, never locked out the room), no castime, and good aoe.
But I only tried this setting so I can't they it's the best, or a good one.
I like the idea of having some warlock for brez, it happend that the heal get the aggro, die and the party wype.

I don?t know how good cc is for the classes but best group will be DK (Tank), Disc Priest (cause of attonement healing) and 3 hunter. Ranged cause they don?t stand in stuff and hunter cause of instants. With decent gear mobs are dying very fast. Way too fast for casters with cast time or dots.
