Been away for about 1 year from WoW & HB/GB Lifetime--What has been going on?

Hey guys, got up to the 85 cap and thought f**k doing the gear grind for the best tier gear for the 3rd time (and I wasn't going to pay someone to do it) so I quit WoW and stopped using my HB/GB lifetime account.

Since then I heard about the WoW legal action but that was it. With the new expansion coming and the 1 year WoW subscription bonuses I was thinking I would play again but only if HB/GB is stronger and better.

I've been actually doing something productive and learning AutoIt and C# so maybe I can write some cool stuff for HB/GB.

Q1) Honestly what's been happening in the HB/GB bot scene while I haven't been playing?

Q2) Should I bother to jump back in to WoW?

Q3) If HB/GB would be shut down I would honestly stop playing WoW (I really hate all the repetition they add-in to keep subscriptions going) so any word on how the legal battle is going?

No one can answer that for you. What goal are you trying to achieve? Can you achieve that goal in WoW or HB? You're the only one that can answer the question.

It's going well.

Nothing that couldn't have been answered by just reading 2 or 3 threads. Go over to the "Legal" section to learn everything *we* know about the legal battle. Go over to the "release" section to learn everything *we* know about what has changed over the past year (hint: Nothing changed in WoW so nothing changed in HB either).

My goals are to have fun in WoW and collect rep/honor/items/gear without repetition/grinding. I also think it would be cool to write an addon that auto heals a raid as a Holy Pally... like a semi autonomous heal bot. So I could play the game and control my toon but be a better healer than the raid shammy (one can dream can't they).

I also want to flex my coding muscles. Honestly don't think the Wiki is a lot of help to a newbie HB Dev as it seems a bit thrown together.

If only someone could put together a plain English Dev guide... *sigh* the next post from someone will be along the lines of "make one yourself you lazy sack of shizzle".

Anyone know where to start?

Im raiding with Gilderoys Holy paladin. Done 3 HM's in firelands so far and raggy on normal ;)

Edit: Also with Bubby's shaman CC, done raggy aswell.

well, in 1 year, some thing have improved, such as ccs and such....others are not functioning optimally...like instancebuddy....but updates are always inc. the big nagg on honorbuddy, is that is still isnt intuitive enough for a 1-click lvl 85 profile...random crashes, bugs etc. basically, a lot of things can go wrong. but, does it get the job done...ofc it does. one side note that is really, really important fo me at least - is that we finally have a relogger that works! - its not built into honorbuddy - which is a shame....but its really neat - i was pissed off when i switched over to honorbuddy, and realized that no relogger that was functioning properly existed.....i mean, we had that in glider....the quality of some of the peepz profiles are impressive, but - as always, you need to do your own to suit the needs that you have.
 
If you want to WoW and code then yes, you should come back.

As far as programming goes: It sounds like you want to make yourself a Custom Class with LazyRaider support. I would suggest you do the following:
- Read the basis programming guides that are available on the forums. They're in the Development section.
- Download a basic Custom Class (The Ez series are a good start)
- Start adapting the downloaded class and see what the effect of your changes is
- When you get the hang of it: Start from scratch, building your own Custom Class

BTW I want to write working profiles for those bitch achievements that you want to kill yourself doing half way through. That would be cool.

Once upon a time I was a Lifetime Glider botter (RIP Glider) and I loved how much the community helped each other out. The profiles were easy to create and tweak even though Glider really isn't as technologically advanced as HB.

I miss that, no offence to anyone but I always felt like HB/GB was mainly used by Gold Farmers who didn't give a shit about the community and occasionally someone did some cool stuff but it was so fragmented. Whenever I tried to connect with people I didn't get far.

I'm happy to roll up my sleeves and contribute but I always get lost along the way and have no one to get help from.

Anyways seems like I'll be coming back.
 
welcome back. honorbuddy may not be glider when it comes to the community...but then again, the forum here is not a troll infested flame war, like it was there - its just good people that help eachother and discuss various solutions to problems - but the pace regarding replies is a bit more slower.
 
I've been away from a year too and downloaded the bot again last night. I must admit that it is looking gorgeous and more human-like. Very very nice job Buddy-staff!
 
Um yes Mario27, 37 views and I would have expected a lively community to reply. In the end the bump helped. From the tone of your post it seems to me that we have different views when it comes to forums... to each to their own.

More human like? Muhaaa.... Oh, I miss the good old glider times. RAF'ing with two bots was fuc.... awesome. Can't imagine how "human like" that one would look like nowadays.
