Barb does not attack elites without cooldowns using Trinity?

Im somewhat new to demonbuddy, but have used other buddy products in the past. Is there a setting I need to tweak so my char will attack elite mobs? As of now he just stands there and blocks while my sidekick templar pokes the elites.
