Banned on 2 accounts?

Mmmkay, just got the emails (downstairs watching tv lol)

Both my accounts were given 72hr suspensions. What has me perplexed is the fact you guys say 72 hour bans are from player reports. (I have been botting for years with not a single ban)

Now I know it's a matter of when not if and my time was up. (Now is as good as any considering I'm playing ffxiv) but I want to understand A) why this happened so I can use the information in the future and B) find out if it's safe to return to botting in a few days lol.

With that said, unless you can voice some convincing reasons as to why you believe 72 bans are the result of player reports I'm gonna have to assume it's the result of something else.

I was running 2 different accounts doing 2 different things. A male worgen warrior on one account doing battlegrounds, and a female warlock questing (leveling). So unless you expect me to believe two people simultanously reported them both.... Then they have to be the result of something else.

Ie: one from reports, the other from association?

Whatchas think? Cause? Safe to resume in a few days? Grr what a setback! :p
 
Same thing happened to me. Seems to be at the same time as you. Both accounts and for almost doing the same things you were. Never got a ban/suspension before. Not sure what to do... or if I should do anything.
 
Player report bans dont happen instantly it could be from months back and blizzard is just doing a quick ban sweep of excessive accumulated player reports thats why its hard to tell what exactly triggers the bans to people.
 
It seems we having wipeouts today morning, questbots in early morning/midnight and gatherers for the morning coffee :D (I lost 5 gatherers just 55min ago)
 
Yikes, must be the case then. The warrior I am understanding of. I mean, it plays better than most people in the bgs so they're either reporting out of ignorance, or based on principle.

Either way i run it for much longer lengths of time and half the time with little supervision. (Bgwise). These are always around tons of other people so it's almost expected at some point.

However, before I started botting, or Atleast looking into botting... Unless it was doing something obviously non human... I didn't know what to look for. This leads me to believe we have a problem with botters reporting botters. Consider the community in wow and it's a near certainty. I find it pitiful. Not only should we be helping one another like normal human beings, but the level of ignorance it takes to do something like this is comical. Your simply raising the chances of your own ban. I guess this is either preaching to the choir and/or beating a dead horse though.

As far as the warlock goes, she is only a few days old and very very rarely even sees other players. Having accumulated reports is simply not possible. Unless "accumulation" amounts to like 3... Even then it's a stretch.

This has me assuming that it was banned due to association. Do they do this? It was a seperate account but under the same battle.net.

I have also considered IP however I have heard as of late that the idea MMOs ban via IP is misplaced. If they did, places like caf?s and colleges would lead to innocents being banned. Thoughts?

Either way, as much as I want to contest it, to add clout to potential future bannings being "unfounded" ultimately I think that it's a bad idea (as advised).

I'm going to ride it out and honestly get back to it the day it comes back up :p

Till then I was fortunate enough to not only be playing ffxiv but to get an ESO beta invite. Lots of good mmoage on the horizon :p
