I doubt there was anything we could have done to stop this. They got fucked hard, simple as that. but you agreed to this when you pressed start

Yes - same here, just returned to wow after some years off, just botting for my own stuff - gathering ore/herb, and leveling. I even bought token for ingame gold. So im not angry or pissed, just "oh well" and going on with something else in my sparetime!!
