Any way to reduce ram usage to under 1 gig?

I want to run 5 instances but only have 6 gig of ram. Am I getting ahead of myself? I read on a post that there was a program to optimize ram usage awhile ago but can't seem to find it anymore. Is this possible or should I upgrade my ram? Thanks
 
I haven't heard or found a way when I looked, but it is possible to reduce the CPU usage by a large portion
 
My cpu usage: 12%
My ram usage: 81%

with 3 setups

Time to buy a new stick of ram? Any suggestions?
 
5x 1.1 gb of ram = 5.5 gb of ram.
Windows takes about 0.7 gb of ram==== so i see where your problem is lol.....

you can use your hard drive as ram.
you can increase the ram on video cards.
you could always overclock ram cards..

you could always run your game in compatibility mode to run it as a very very low resolution, and lower all your game settings, disable friend settings in game ect.
 
But yeah, you can pickup a 2g-16g flash drive for like $10-$15 online or at the store and use ready boost :).
 
I used the readily available D3Pref's and it lowered my RAM usage from 80% to 50%. My CPU usage remained unchanged at 100% however, was a big disappointment because CPU was what I wanted to lower with the D3Prefs, RAM wasnt an issue.

iMac i7 with 16GB Ram running 6 Clients. It hit 100% CPU usage at the 4th client but still managed to handle 6.

just make the d3 windows smaler = less cpu usage
 
what did you change in your d3prefs to gain such advantage with your RAM usage?
 
i have my d3prefs as low as i can get it afaik and my clients still start at 800mb and gradually grow to 1.2g-1.3g over the course of a day until i reset them.
 
get "cleanmem". i run d3 with ~400 ram and my pc is really really dumb :) hope this help you!
 
There was a really great deal on the gskill ripjaw x 2133 2x 8gb ram sticks. it was 30 dollars off. Went up only till the 26th though. I am sure there are other deals going on for similar products at newegg though
 
cleanmem dropped my memory usage from 86% to 37%. It's still using 1GB+ so I'm not sure if it's working or the numbers are just tweaked somehow. Thanks.

Gotta be careful running clean mem tho. Soaks up some processor and ram itself while monitoring all of your processes.

kinda wierd tbh i have a really bad pc (amd athlon 5200+ 2,7gb, 2gb ram, ssd 120gb), and im running 2 bots, about 3-500ram each. use low graphics, disable everything shadow etc
