AMD Six Cores vs Intel Four Cores?

Hey Guys

Quick question I can't seem to find the answer for on google or forums.

Amd Six Cores FX6100 (Cheaper but worse for games/applications)
vs.
Intel Quad Core (Expensive but better for games/applications)

These benchmarks are for single games and applications that do not utilizes all 6 cores or rarely 4.
If i'm running for example 10 wow bots, which would be a better option?

Avoid the 6100 like the plague. The bulldozer CPU architecture is a massive failure - High power usage, Poor single core performance, Poor CPU in general.

However AMD have released the new Piledriver line up which is 15%-20% faster than the bulldozer which fetches a fair price. So if I were you I would go with the 6300 CPU :), the difference between and i5-2500k and the 6300 would be so marginal you wouldn't even notice when you have multiple clients open.

Even if games arn't really designed for 6 cores it's still better to have them, Windows would certainly make use of them for background applications and other tasks it needs to perform which leads to lower frame stuttering. Save the money difference it would cost you for Intel over AMD and buy more accounts with the money saved ;)
 
Google. Cpu benchmark pick any CPU over 4900 it will run 10 bots

My biggest concern was if wow would use all the cores, for example 1 bot per core kind of thing. (Not that simple but you get the idea)
 
AMD has been a step behind Intel for quite some time now.. it's more of a personal preference/compatability issue with other hardware that you have to take into consideration.
 
If you are only running herb/miner toons then AMD will do fine, but for more intensive botting I'd go Intel.
 
If you're just looking for Gaming and general PC usage... AMD will work for you, but if you're heavy into rendering (CAD Applications, Maya, Vectorworks, etc... NOT gaming) Intel will utilize the cores better.

Intel and AMD have their place in the market, Intel does some things better than AMD and vice versa... but a total nutjob will compare the two processors behind a game or how many threads you can run between AMD and Intel. Both Intel and AMD can run 20-30 instances of Wow without a problem granted that you have the memory to support it. Bottom line... the only TRUE comparison between Intel and AMD is how they render 3d applications, and wow is not one of them. Wow is not a high intensive 3d client and cannot compete with whats on the market.

For gaming an i7 will not do anything better than what an AMD FX-8150 will do, respectively. Period. Flat out will not. They are both neck to neck in the gaming industry... just not comparable at all. The only thing that matters is, HOW MUCH do you really want to spend and WHAT are you using the processor for? Gaming = AMD , Rendering = Intel.

As the other guy said about bulldozer... the processor was a flop initially once it hit production, but has improved. Intel has had it share as well. The new FX (e.g. FX-8150 Zambezi) series shown good reviews.

Currently running AMD FX 4170, it runs pretty good. I honestly only bought this because I needed a budget PC. Dont get me wrong, it works great, but my roommate has an i5 and it runs so much smoother. I would honestly go intel if you can, but going AMD won't necessarily be a problem that all the intel enthusiasts say it would be.
