I tend to babysit my character as it starts up and runs to the desired location. About 90% of the time it works rather well. My character runs to the desired location and the bot goes to work. Sometimes I've watched the bot teleport to a node, then make a B-line to the destination and "if" it happens across a higher level aggressive mob it sometimes begins combat, and that results in a death. Another time I had my character run to the lvl 1-3 spot, and it simply killed the level 3 monsters over and over again despite being level 10. Additionally, because I haven't messed with the repair addon, I tend to check in every 2 hours or so to make sure my gear is repaired, and there are no problems.
Fatebot has been pretty smooth. I started out by leveling mining, and making money. Once I had about 200-300k gil it was easy to switch to a combat role, and buy out all high-quality gear for whatever job I was leveling. Having good gear made fate grinding much more reliable. I have noticed sometimes that my character would die if I was under-geared, because "sometimes" the bot likes to chain pull, or accidentally aggro several mobs at once. Overall it's been rather successful.
I imagine once I run out of classes to level I'll probably stop botting for a bit except when I need money. RebornBuddy is an amazing investment, but if I have no use for it, then I just park it, and let my computer get some sleep. I've heard that getting banned for botting is near non-existent on FFXIV, but I wouldn't run my bot for the sake of running it. If I run out of things to do then I won't use it.
